The Toronto Blue Jays were expected to be contenders heading into the 2024 season, but it appears they will be selling at the trade deadline. The team has never been dominant in the Vladimir Guerrero Jr. era, and they’re currently in last place, 12.5 games back in the AL East.
The Orioles are in the exact opposite position. They’re battling the Yankees for first place in the division and are looking to defend the top seed in the American League from one year ago.
Baltimore is off to a great start at 37-20. They should continue their dominance against divisional opponents, which is why we’re backing them on Monday.
Grayson Rodriguez will pitch for Baltimore. He is 5-2 with a 3.53 ERA and a 1.33 WHIP. Typically, Rodriguez is the better pitcher when he toes the rubber. Yet, Kevin Gausman will pitch for the Blue Jays, and he is just as good.
Gausman is 4-3 with a 4.14 ERA and a 1.36 WHIP. Although each pitcher has very similar numbers, we trust Baltimore because of its winning consistency and offensive prowess.
The Orioles are 16-8 on the road this season, scoring 58 more runs than Toronto in 2024.

The Astros haven’t been able to consistently string together wins. They were approaching the .500 mark and then went backward once again. Despite this, we’re taking them to win on Monday against the St. Louis Cardinals.
The Cardinals have a better record, but this is because the NL Central isn’t a great division. Houston is a much better team than St. Louis, and this should show throughout the series.
Justin Verlander will pitch for Houston. He is 3-2 with a 3.26 ERA and a 1.13 WHIP. He hasn’t been his usual self but has been a valuable piece for the team. He will throw against Kyle Gibson, who is 4-2 with a 3.6 ERA and a 1.22 WHIP.
The Cardinals have to travel from Philadelphia to Houston after playing in a Sunday Night Baseball matchup. Hopefully, Verlander can put together a gem, and the Cardinals will experience some jet lag flying west.
Houston has scored 41 more runs than St. Louis and are batting nearly 30 points higher in average.

The Padres took a series against the Royals and have momentum coming into the Angels series. Their wins in Kansas City solidified their record being over .500.
Matt Waldron will pitch for the Padres. He is 3-5 with a 4.26 ERA and has elite strikeout ability, which should help San Diego get out of innings.
The Padres thrive against pitch-to-contact arms, and this is who they’re facing in Tyler Anderson. Anderson is a pitch-to-contact wing, and we expect the Padres to rough him up on Monday.
San Diego is 19-11 on the road, while the Angels are 7-21 in their own stadium.
