The Los Angeles Dodgers are the best team in baseball, and they showed it to open the season. Los Angeles jumped out to an early lead against Miles Mikolas and the Cardinals and didn’t look back.

Los Angeles is the favorite in the World Series market, and if they don’t win the pennant, it would be shocking. Los Angeles has a great offense, but they’re also loaded with pitching. 

Bobby Miller, the young right-hander, will pitch for Los Angeles. Miller is 6’5”, 220 pounds, and coming off an excellent season in the big leagues. 

He will be the ace of this staff in the future based on what he did in his age-23 season. Miller was 11-4 with a 3.76 ERA and a 1.10 WHIP. Miller will throw against Zach Thompson, who has much potential but isn’t good enough to maneuver the Dodgers lineup. 

Look for the Los Angeles offense to get off to a hot start as they did on Thursday. St. Louis is rebuilding, and there isn’t only so much Nolan Arenado and Paul Goldschmidt can do to carry the team.

MLB Parlay Picks Today: Guardians vs. Athletics (9:40 PM, EST)

Under 7.5 Runs (-230) at FanDuel

There isn’t a lot of pop between the Guardians and Athletics. These were two of the worst offenses in the league last season, and they haven’t improved much heading into 2024. 

The Guardians were 27th, and the Athletics were 30th in runs scored last season. Both offenses had terrible showings, and we don’t expect either offense to shine on Friday. 

The pitchers in this matchup aren’t the best in Logan Allen and Ross Stripling. However, it’s hard to get behind either offense, no matter who is on the mound. 

Stripling was 0-5 last season, allowing 104 hits in 89 innings. He is the second-best pitcher on Oakland’s staff, which should give some indication of this team. Yet, he only has to work around some powerful hitters for Cleveland. 

We’ll be leaning under any time we get an offensive matchup like this in 2024.

MLB Parlay Picks Today: Rockies vs. Diamondbacks (9:40 PM, EST)

Diamondbacks (-110) at FanDuel

The Arizona Diamondbacks beat the odds last season and advanced to the World Series. They have a strong team that just got better by signing Jordan Montgomery. 

Yet, their most significant issue is that they play in the National League West, which features the Dodgers. Arizona is a team we will still be betting on consistently this season. 

They have some of the best young talent in Corbin Carroll and a tremendous pitching staff. Arizona will face Colorado on Friday, with one of their best pitchers, Merrill Kelly, on the hill. 

Kelly was 12-8 with a 3.29 ERA and a 1.19 WHIP last season. He was 11th in baseball in ERA, which was impressive considering he was 34. 

If Kelly brings his best stuff, the horrid Rockies should have a tough time winning on the road. Take Arizona to finish the parlay.
