My Pick: Texas Rangers (TEX)
One of Saturday’s best games is the potential ALCS matchup between the Texas Rangers (40-22) going on the road in a thrilling three-game series matchup against the Tampa Bay Rays (47-19). The Rays got a great 8-3 win on Friday as they got an incredible performance in the pitching game from Tyler Glasnow and a dominating performance at the plate from players like third baseman Isaac Parades (two home runs & six RBIs).
The Rays are the best power-hitting team in the AL while the Rangers are the most consistent team at the plate this season. The difference in the game on Saturday will come from the pitching matchups.
Tampa Bay ranks second in the AL in runs accounted for (380), third in hits accounted for (584), first in home runs accounted for (110), first in stolen bases (86), first in walks (223), second in batting average (.263), second in on-base percentage (.338) and first in slugging percentage (.475). Six players for Tampa Bay have accounted for 11 or more home runs.
Texas ranks first in runs in the AL (389), first in hits (593), sixth in fewest strikeouts encountered (544), first in batting average (.275), first in on-base percentage (.342) and second in slugging percentage (.457).
Tampa Bay will be going with Taj Bradley(3.60 ERA in 35 innings) to start at the mound while Texas will be going with their ace pitcher Nathan Eovaldi (2.24 ERA in 80.1 innings). While Bradley has been a part of an incredible Rays’ starting pitchers lineup; having Eovaldi as the Rangers’ starter will be a big boost for the matchup of juggernauts in the AL.

The Houston Astros (36-28) are coming into Saturday’s game versus the Cleveland Guardians (30-33) as the surprising underdog. Cleveland was able to defeat Houston 10-9 in 14 long, grueling innings as the pitching was too inefficient. There are reasons to believe another high-scoring game this Saturday based on the pitching matchups.
Houston will be going with J.P. France (3.44 ERA in 34 innings) to start at the mound while Cleveland will be going with Triston McKenzie, who has only pitched in five innings this season. While McKenzie has allowed only one hit and one walk while delivering 10 strikeouts in 17 batters faced in the June 4th game against the Minnesota Twins, he is facing a more efficient batting team.
The Astros are ranked eighth in the AL in runs accounted for (292), sixth in hits accounted for (533), eighth in home runs (71), fourth in fewest strikeouts encountered (519), seventh in batting average (.247), seventh in on-base percentage (.316) and eighth in slugging percentage (.400).
Astros’ star designated hitter Yordan Alvarez is on the IL with an oblique injury and will need another player to step and carry that load. That player could be shortstop Jeremy Pena, who has accounted for 25 runs, 61 hits, 16 double-base hits, eight home runs, 26 RBIs, six stolen bases, 13 walks, a batting average of .252 and an on-base percentage of .305.
Cleveland has found ways to revitalize their performances at the plate after starting the season in rough shape. After needing a big hit in the 14th inning the day before, however, the Guardians might see a small fatigue at the plate on Saturday.

One of the most intense and historic rivalries in the history of the MLB is set to conclude a series on Sunday. The Boston Red Sox (32-32) are looking to climb higher in the standings of a loaded AL East team by winning the series on the road against their rivals in the New York Yankees (37-28).
The Yankees rank sixth in the AL in runs accounted for (299), 10th in hits accounted for (504), second in home runs accounted for (100), seventh in fewest strikeouts encountered (545), 10th in batting average (.234) and fifth in slugging percentage (.421). They are having to get their batting team to play at the same efficiency without star rightfielder Aaron Judge, who is on the 10-day IL for a toe injury.
In Friday’s game one of the series, the Red Sox defeated the Yankees in a game where both of the talented batting teams underperformed. Only Yankees third baseman Josh Donaldson and Red Sox third baseman Rafael Devers had solid batting performances.
On Sunday, the Red Sox are expected to start Brayan Bello (3.97 ERA in 45.1 innings) while the Yankees are projected to start Clarke Schmidt (4.96 ERA in 61.2 innings). The Red Sox will have the edge in the pitching, but not by a wide margin. The Yankees will have the home-field advantage, which is a huge asset in this rivalry. New York is also looking to finish this series strong after a poor performance at the plate in Friday’s game one of the series.
