The Chicago White Sox (7-13) have serious ground to make up after a rough 20-game start to the 2023 MLB Season. The Tampa Bay Rays (17-3) currently have the best record in the MLB thanks to a nearly historic run that was shattered by their divisional rivals the Toronto Blue Jays.
One of the biggest reasons for the Rays starting on a great note in the first 20 games is the talent and production of their batting and pitching team. The Rays are first in the MLB in runs accounted for (141), first in hits (198), first in home runs (45), first in batting average (.288) and first in on-base percentage (.361). Six players have reached double-digit RBIs accounted for this season.
Another big reason for Tampa’s success this season is their tremendous pitching. They are first in ERA allowed (2.80), first in fewest hits allowed (128), first in fewest runs allowed (57) and sixth in strikeouts accounted for (182). Shane McClanahan, who is set to be the starting pitcher for the Rays on Saturday, has been one of the MLB’s top pitchers. McClanahan has allowed only 15 hits, four runs and 11 walks while delivering 27 strikeouts and accounting for an ERA of 1.57.
He will be a key factor against the White Sox, who are good, but not great at the plate. The White Sox will have Dylan Cease (2.01 ERA) starting at the mound on Saturday. He will have a chance to keep the game close for Chicago.
Time: 7:10 PM E.T.
Starting Pitchers: Garrett Whitlock (BOS) vs Wade Miley (MIL)
Moneyline: Red Sox (+105) | Brewers (-125)
Run Line: Red Sox +1.5 (-190) | Brewers -1.5 (+160)
Total: Over 8.5 (-110) | Under 8.5 (-110)

The Boston Red Sox (11-10) have given themselves new life after a 5-8 start to the 2023 MLB Season. After that 5-8 start, the Red Sox have won six of their next eight games. They have won the home series over the Los Angeles Angels and the home series over the Minnesota Twins.
They will face a tough and efficient Milwaukee Brewers (14-6) team that has been solid at the plate, but even better at the mound. The Brewers are first in the NL in ERA (3.07), second in fewest hits allowed (145), first in runs allowed (65) and third in home runs allowed (19). Wade Miley will get the start at the mound for the Brewers on Saturday as he has been surprisingly the most efficient pitcher this season (1.50 ERA).
The Red Sox will get the chance to continue their progress at the plate with the momentum they’ve built up. Boston ranks second in the AL in runs accounted for (116), third in hits (44) and third in home runs (25).
Third baseman Rafael Devers has been the biggest reason for the Red Sox in the batting game. Devers has accumulated 15 runs, 21 hits, seven home runs, 18 RBIs, a .253 batting average and an on-base percentage of .295. Boston, led by Devers, has the momentum and the hot batting streak to continue to account for the big win on Saturday.
Time: 9:40 PM E.T.
Starting Pitchers: Miles Mikolas (STL) vs Luis Castillo (SEA)
Run Line: Cardinals +1.5 (-155) | Mariners -1.5 (+135)
Odds courtesy of DraftKings Sportsbook
Both the St. Louis Cardinals (8-12) and the Seattle Mariners (9-11) are serious wildcard contenders for their respective conferences, but first, they must find the momentum to push for .500%.
The Mariners got the 5-2 win over the Cardinals on Friday as the bullpen held St. Louis to only three hits and two runs while delivering seven strikeouts. This Saturday, the Mariners will have their ace pitcher Luis Castillo, one of the top pitchers in the MLB, starting against the Cardinals. In four games started and 24.2 innings pitched, Castillo has allowed only 11 hits, two runs and four walks while delivering 26 strikeouts and a season ERA of 0.73.
St. Louis is a team that can get on base, but not score consistently. The Cardinals are ranked third in the NL in batting average (.267) and second in on-base percentage (.345), but are eighth in the NL in runs accounted for (93).
This game should allow Castillo to produce a solid performance and continue his stellar 2023 MLB season. At the plate for the Mariners, they have efficient batters to account for consistent bases and account for solid runs.
