Run Line | Spread | Moneyline | Total |
---|---|---|---|
Brewers | +1.5 (-165) | +130 | Over 8 (-105) |
Yankees | -1.5 (+140) | -155 | Under 8 (-115) |
Many people are writing off the Brewers after the team lost Willy Adames and Devin Williams in the offseason, but we still believe. The loss of Adames hurts the offense, but they’ll have Christian Yelich healthy and Jackson Chourio with a year of experience under his belt. The rest of the lineup has speed and the ability to get on base, which will be a problem for Carlos Rodon and the Yankees.
Rodon managed to stay healthy last season, going 16-9 with a 3.96 ERA. However, consistency remained an issue. After finishing the season's final month strong, he went 1-2 with a 5.60 ERA in the playoffs.
We have concerns over Freddy Peralta, but his best work came on the road. The ace went 5-4 with a 3.29 ERA as opponents managed a batting average of just .215. Freddy is elite when his stuff works, even against a lineup as powerful as the Yankees.
The loss of Devin Williams at the back of the bullpen is tough, but this is still one of the best units in the league. That includes new closer Trevor MeGill, who racked up 21 saves and a 2.72 ERA filling in for an injured Williams last season.

---|---|---|---|
Phillies | -1.5 (+105) | -170 | Over 7 (-120) |
Nationals | +1.5 (-125) | +143 | Under 7 (+100) |
The Nationals have some young stars and improved a bit in the offseason, but not enough to compete with Zack Wheeler and the Phillies.
Wheeler is making his second-consecutive opening day start for Philadelphia. He was lights-out last season, going 16-7 with a 2.57 ERA and 224 strikeouts. The Nationals had no answers for the ace last season, managing a .136 batting average over 19 ⅔ innings. Expect to see a similar performance to open the 2025 season.
MacKenzie Gore will be on the mound for the Nationals tonight. The 26-year-old has not found any form of consistency in his young career. He finished the season strong but posted a 5.58 ERA from June to August.
Gore was better at home last season but allowed opponents to bat .279 average. Philly’s powerful lineup will exploit that, leading to a lopsided opening day win.

Athletics | +1.5 (-160) | +143 | Over 7 (-105) |
Mariners | -1.5 (+135) | -170 | Under 7 (-115) |
There is much to like about this A’s team, but they’ll start 2025 with a loss. That is primarily due to Luis Severino being on the mound. The newly-signed veteran won’t be enjoying the same run support he wanted with the Yankees, and he doesn’t have the stuff to lead this team to low-scoring victories.
Severino was a nightmare on the road in 204, posting a 5.00 ERA over 84.2 innings. While the Mariners aren’t known for their offense, they did hammer the veteran for four runs across five innings. Those numbers signal an ugly start for Severino in Seattle.
The Mariners will have one of the league’s top young pitchers on the mound. He was fantastic last season, finishing with a 3.23 ERA, 220 strikeouts, and an impressive 0.89 WHIP. Oakland’s lineup is improved, but they own a combined .107 batting average against Gilbert.
