While these are two of the worst teams in baseball, they have a lot to play for tonight. The Sox will be looking to avoid setting a record for the most losses in a season, and the Angels will be looking to avoid setting a franchise record for losses, meaning both teams will be trying a little harder to win tonight.
While the teams will have the extra incentive to win, the Angels will come out on top tonight. They have the better lineup and will play at home, which is a massive advantage when playing a team from the Midwest. The team also has one of baseball's most promising young stars, shortstop Zach Neto, who will be in for a big night against the White Sox.
We expect Neto and the Angels to score plenty of runs tonight because of White Sox starter Garrett Crochet (6-12, 3.78 ERA). The 25-year-old broke out with Chicago this season, but the team has severely restricted his pitch counts as the season winds down. The lefty hasn’t thrown more than 60 pitches since August 9, meaning tonight’s game will largely be decided by the team’s bullpen.
Chicago owns one of the worst bullpens in baseball, posting the second-worst ERA in the league at 4.85.
The Angels will also have a young starter on the mound in Jack Kochanowicz (2-5, 5.08 ERA, 1.42 WHIP). The 23-year-old has delivered mixed results for the Angels, but he put together an impressive August campaign. While September hasn’t gone as well, we expect him to bounce back against a Chicago team that ranks twenty-ninth in batting average and dead last in runs scored (trails the next team by 97 runs).

The Twins have been struggling badly over the last month, going 9-18 since August 18. While this remains a very good team, it seems they are running out of gas over the final stretch of the season. That is bad news as they prepare to face the division-leading Guardians tonight.
The Twins will have Bailey Ober (12-7, 3.90 ERA, 0.99 WHIP) starting tonight. The veteran was fantastic over the first few months but has struggled badly since August 1. Over is 2-2 with a 4.29 ERA during that span and is coming off one of his worst starts, allowing the Reds to score five runs over 6 ⅔ innings.
Once Ober exits the game, he will turn things over to a Twins bullpen that owns the ninth-worst ERA in the league. Combine that with the fact that he started a game in Cleveland in May and allowed five runs on eight hits over four innings, and you can see why we are locking this bet in.
The Guardians will have Tanner Bibee (11-8, 3.60 ERA, 1.14 WHIP) starting opposite Ober. The young pitcher is having a solid season and has dominated the Twins across three starts this season. He is 2-0 and allowed the Twins to score just one run in each game.
