The Braves are on a hot streak as they make a final charge for the NL East title. The Twins have been trending in the other direction, costing them a chance to take over the lead in the AL Central. While both squads are talented, we see the hotter team walking away with a lopsided win tonight.
The Braves will have a significant advantage tonight with Chris Sale (14-3, 2.62 ERA, 1.02 WHIP) on the mound. The veteran is having one of the best seasons of his impressive career, ranking second in wins and ERA, third in ERA, and seventh in WHIP. He has been especially sharp in road starts this season, going 6-3 with a 2.49 ERA.
The Twins lineup is having a fantastic season, but Sale has been elite. He is a heavy favorite to win the 2024 NL Cy Young award and is 4-0 with a 2.33 ERA. Once the ace exits the game, the Braves will turn things open to their excellent bullpen, which owns the third-best ERA in the league.
The Twins will have rookie David Festa (2-3, 5.20 ERA, 1.32 WHIP) starting opposite Sale. While the 24-year-old has a 3.18 ERA in August, he has only thrown 17 innings over his last four starts. He has done some of his worst work at home since being called up, going 0-2 with a 6.61 ERA.
The Braves have been seeing the ball well of late and will take advantage of the young starter tonight. Expect Marcell Ozuna to stay hot, leading the team to a multi-run win tonight.

The Mets have been playing far better over the last few months, but the Diamondbacks have been the hottest team in baseball since the end of June. That hasn’t changed since the team lost NL MVP candidate Ketel Marte to the IL, showing how well the rest of the roster has been playing. While they will have a disadvantage on the mound, their hot bats will carry them to a victory tonight.
The Mets will have Sean Manaea (9-5, 3.48 ERA, 1.17 WHIP) starting tonight. The veteran is having the best season of his career and has been an anchor for this New York rotation. However, control remains an issue, ranking in the top twenty of the league in walks this season.
Manaea will see the Diamondbacks for the second time this season. He faced them at home on June 1 and was shelled for six runs (five earned) over 5 2/3 innings. That start came when the team struggled and owned a record below .500. Given how the team is now playing, don’t expect a different result from Manaea.
The Diamondbacks will have Brandon Pfaadt (8-6, 4.08 ERA, 1.15 WHIP) on the mound against the Mets. The 25-year-old has struggled to find consistency and is having a rough August, posting a 4.94 ERA over four starts, but he is 3-0 over his last three. The D-backs have won nine of his previous ten starts, and we see them doing so again tonight.
