Some great bets are on the board today, but two stand out above the rest. The first comes from a game between the San Francisco Giants and Milwaukee Brewers. The other is from a matchup between NL Wild Card contenders as the St. Louis Cardinals and San Diego Padres square off.
Below, we will share our favorite bet for each game and explain why we love them. We’ll use odds from FanDuel Sportsbook, which offers a welcome bonus of $200 in Bonus Bets to new bettors who sign up and place an initial wager of $5+.

This matchup features two starting pitchers that have been on fire lately.
On one side is Giant’s ace Logan Webb (11-8, 3.13 ERA, 1.19 WHIP), who is 3-0 with a 1.27 ERA across four August starts. His impressive play has helped him bounce back from an ugly July, but it has come against some bad teams. Three of those starts were against the White Sox, Tigers, and Nationals, all of which will miss the playoffs this season.
As well as Webb is pitching, he has struggled on the road. He is 4-5 with a 4.11 ERA when starting outside San Francisco. That problem will be exploited tonight by a Brewers lineup that ranks in the top ten of the league in both batting average and runs scored.
The Brewers will have a young Tobias Myers (6-5, 2.87 ERA, 1.14 WHIP) on the mound tonight. Several MLB teams gave up on the rookie, but he has become a critical piece of this Milwaukee rotation. Since June 1, Myers is 5-3 with a 2.01 ERA.
Tonight, we will give the edge to Myers and the Brewers bullpen. The Giants lineup is mediocre at best, and they’ll be facing a confident young pitcher on the mound tonight. Things won’t get easier once Myers exits, as the Crew’s bullpen has the second-best ERA in the league.

Both of these teams are playing for their postseason lives heading into September, but the Padres will have a significant edge tonight on the mound.
San Diego will have Dylan Cease (12-10, 3.43 ERA, 1.05 WHIP) starting tonight. The ace has revived his career in San Diego and has been fantastic since July 13, going 4-2 with a 1.85 ERA. While his last few starts have been bumpier, he will have a great chance to turn things around tonight.
The Cardinals lineup has been a major disappointment this season. While they rank towards the middle of the pack in batting average, they have scored the seventh fewest runs in the league. While they have been a little better since the All-Star break, they lack the talent to beat a pitcher like Cease.
St. Louis will have Miles Mikolas (8-10, 5.19 ERA, 1.26 WHIP) starting opposite Cease. The veteran has been a rotation staple for years but has been terrible in 2024. While he is coming off his best start of the season, he still owns a 6.41 ERA across four starts this month.
Mikolas was outstanding against the Padres back on April 2, but this is a very different Padres team. San Diego leads the league in batting average and is tenth in runs scored, making them one of the best lineups in the league.
Mikolas has been especially bad at home this season, going 1-5 with a 5.94 ERA. Expect San Diego to get to Mikolas early, leading to an easy run-line cover.
