Hunter Brown (11-7, 3.82 ERA, 1.34 WHIP) has been a completely different pitcher after a brutal first two months of the season. Since June 1, the 25-year-old is 10-2 with a 2.33 ERA, making him one of the best pitchers in the league during that span.

The Orioles hit Brown hard during his 2023 rookie season, but he has figured things out in his sophomore campaign. He has been especially hot in August, going 2-0 with a 1.96 ERA over three starts. Baltimore will be the toughest test he has faced lately, but the way Brown is pitching, we see him having the edge tonight.

Baltimore will send Cade Povich (1-6, 5.77 ERA, 1.58 WHIP) to the bump tonight. The young lefty is the organization's top pitching prospect, but he has struggled over his first nine MLB starts. He recently returned to the team to make a start last weekend, which went well, but he will be up against a great Astros lineup tonight. 

The Astros lineup has been fantastic, even with Kyle Tucker on the sidelines. They own the third-best batting average in the league and have been led by a red-hot Yainer Diaz lately. The catcher has been incredible since the All-Star break, with a .358 batting average, eight home runs, and 22 RBIs. 

Povich’s last start showed why the Orioles have hopes for him, but he became another victim of the Astros’ elite offense tonight.

Best MLB Bets Today: Rangers vs. Guardians

After dominating the AL Central for most of the season, the Guardians have started to slow down. They have lost five of their previous six games and are 15-17 since the All-Star break. Their lineup has been largely to blame, averaging 2.3 runs per game during that span.

Those offensive struggles could cost Cleveland tonight as they face Nathan Eovaldi (8-7, 3.76 ERA, 1.09 WHIP) on the mound. The veteran is having another solid season for Texas. While he has struggled in August, he is too talented to see those struggles continue much longer. Given the Guardians’ play at the plate of late, we see an impressive bounce-back start from him tonight.

The Rangers' offense has disappointed this season, but shortstop Corey Seager is finally seeing the ball well. He was ice-cold for the first half of the season but has a .894 OPS since the All-Star break. He is the cornerstone of this lineup, making them far more dangerous when he pitches at this level.

Starting tonight, Cleveland will have Tanner Bibee (10-5, 3.33 ERA). He is having a good season for the Guardians, but he was a victim of the lineup’s poor hitting at his last start. Bibee allowed just one run over five innings against the Brewers, but the team lost 2-1.
