We have a pair of fantastic bets from what should be great games today. The first comes from a game between NL Central rivals as the St. Louis Cardinals take on the Chicago Cubs. The other comes from a game between AL powerhouses as the Cleveland Guardians face off against the Baltimore Orioles.
We will share our favorite bet for both games below and odds taken from FanDuel Sportsbook. Want to give FanDuel a try? Sign up using our custom link for a chance to earn $150 in Bonus Bets when you make a winning initial wager of $5+.

The Cardinals will have their biggest trade target on the mound tonight in Erick Fedde (7-4, 3.11 ERA, 1.14 WHIP). The veteran has been enjoying the best campaign of his career with the White Sox, and now he’ll be looking to carry that success over to the Cardinals. While we have questions about his ability to pitch at this level down the stretch, he will set up well for a victory today.
Fedde will be facing a Cubs lineup that has struggled in 2024. Chicago ranks twenty-fourth in batting average and twentieth in runs scored. While adding Paredes at the deadline gives them a slight boost, the All-Star is batting just .136 in July.
The Cubs will have Javier Assad (5-3, 3.23 ERA, 1.35 WHIP) starting opposite Fedde this afternoon. The 27-year-old was one of the best pitchers in baseball over the first two months of the season, but he has an ERA of 5.21 since June 1. He has managed just one quality start since then, suggesting that the starter’s struggles are far from over.
Assad will face the Cardinals for the third time this season. St. Louis slugged him in both outings, allowing seven earned runs on 12 hits and five walks over 7 1/3 innings. While the Cardinals lineup has disappointed this season, they will have no problem taking advantage of a pitcher who has walked nine batters and allowed 13 hits over his last 11 2/3 innings pitched (1.96 WHIP).
Bet on Cardinals ML (-112) at FanDuel
This is one of our favorite bets of the week. One big reason is how well both teams are swinging the bat. The Guardians have scored at least four runs in three straight games coming into this series, while the Orioles scored 31 in their four-game series against the Blue Jays.
The Orioles have a far better lineup, ranking third in runs scored and sixth in batting average. That is bad news for Guardians starter Carlos Carrasco (3-9, 5.68 ERA, 1.40 WHIP), who will be on the mound tonight.
Carrasco started the season strong but has been awful over the last two months, posting an ERA of 6.22. Things have been especially bad lately, allowing 12 runs over his previous two starts (9 innings). Combine that with Carassco being 1-6 with a 6.40 ERA during night games this season, and you can see why we love this bet.
The Orioles will have Dean Kremer (4-7, 4.20 ERA, 1.23 WHIP) making the start tonight. While he owns a 3.96 ERA in July, his 1.44 WHIP shows how much the righty has struggled to find the strike zone. Those problems will be on full display as he takes on a Guardians team with a .308 batting average against him.
