We have a pair of great bets from the AL today. The first comes from a hame between AL Central rivals as the Cleveland Guardians face off against the Detroit Tigers. The other is a cross-country matchup as the Seattle Mariners visit the Boston Red Sox.
Below, we will share our favorite bet for both of these matchups. We will use odds taken from FanDuel Sportsbook, which offers new players a bonus of $200 in Bonus Bets if their initial wager of $5+ wins.

This is a low total, but we still love this bet. One reason is Tanner Bibee (8-4, 3.50, 1.09 WHIP), who will start for the Guardians tonight. The 25-year-old has been remarkable for Cleveland this season and has been especially great on the road with a 3.00 ERA. He enters tonight, allowing just one run to score over his last two starts (10 ⅔ innings).
Tonight will be the fourth time Bibee has seen the Tigers this season. He was hit hard in the first two starts but was fantastic when he faced them last week. He allowed just one run on two hits and a walk, leading to a 2-1 win. Detroit’s offense has been struggling of late after a solid first half of the season, scoring three or fewer runs in four of their last five games.
The other reason we love this bet is Jack Flaherty (7-5, 2.95 ERA, 0.96 WHIP). The 28-year-old has wholly revitalized his career this season and owns a fantastic 1.53 ERA over three starts this month. It is his third straight month posting an ERA under 2.90, making him one of the best pitchers in the league.
The Guardians can hit the ball well, but they have not been able to figure out Flaherty in 2024. Flaherty held Cleveland to two or fewer runs in each start, with an ERA of 1.50. His last start against them came last week when he didn’t allow an earned run over six innings.
We love Flaherty’s chances at another shutout tonight, making this an easy bet.
Bet on Under 7 (-118) at FanDuel
The acquisition of Randy Arozarena (.215 BA, 15 HR. 37 RBI, 16 SB) gives this Mariners lineup a significant boost. Injuries and poor play have doomed them to rank among the worst lineups in baseball, but a red-hot Arozarena gives them a bonafide star to hit behind Victor Robles, who has a .396 OBP.
We expect Arozarena and an improved Mariners lineup to have a big night with Nick Pivetta (4-7, 4.50 ERA, 1.18 WHIP) on the mound for Boston. The veteran is in the middle of a rough season and is coming off a start in which he allowed eight runs (seven earned) on ten hits over 2 ⅔ innings. He has now had an ERA of 4.85 since June 1.
Pivetta has delivered some incredible starts, which includes scoreless outings against the Dodgers and Braves. However, he has also been shelled by poor offenses like the Rockies and the A’s. Combine that with the fact that the Red Sox have lost his last three starts, and you can see why we want the Mariners to get a win against Pivetta tonight.
The Mariners will have one of the best pitchers in baseball on the mound in Logan Gilbert (6-6, 2.72 ERA, 0.86 WHIP). The righty has been incredible for Seattle this season, delivering three scoreless outings over his last seven games. He will be facing the Red Sox for the second time this season after he held them to one run over seven innings in his first start.
While Boston ranks third in batting average, it hasn’t been enough to help them avoid dropping six of their last eight games. Given Gilbert’s talent and the Mariners' reliable bullpen, we see them getting the better of the flailing Red Sox tonight.
