We have a fantastic pair of bets for you today. The first comes from an NL Central battle as the Milwaukee Brewers visit the Chicago Cubs. The other comes from an AL showdown as Garrett Crochet and the Chicago White Sox take on the World Series Champion Texas Rangers.

The Cubs will once again have an advantage on the mound tonight, but that hasn’t meant much against the Brewers this season. A brutal bullpen and disappointing lineup cost the Cubs the last two series against the Crew, and we expect both of those factors to lead to another loss tonight.
The Brewers will have Colin Rea (9-3, 3.77 ERA) on the mound tonight. The 34-year-old is having the best season of his career, giving Milwaukee a reliable middle-of-the-rotation starter. While he is far from an ace, Rea did finish June with a 3.25 ERA across five starts.
Rea has found success against Chicago in two starts this season. He posted a combined 2.65 ERA across 10 2/3 innings against the Cubs. He failed to go six innings in either start but was able to set up a great Milwaukee bullpen to win both games. Both of those starts came at home, but we don’t expect the change of scenery to matter, as Rea owns a 3.86 ERA away from Milwaukee.
The Cubs will have Jameson Taillon (7-4, 3.10 ERA) starting opposite Rea tonight. The veteran has been fantastic for the Cubs this season and owns a stellar 2.91 ERA at Wrigley Field.
Taillon dominated the Brewers at home in early May but wasn’t as sharp in his next two starts against them. It doesn’t make a big difference how good he is tonight, as he’ll have to hand things over to the Cubs bullpen at some point. Rea will keep the score close enough for the Crew to rally if needed, making this one of our favorite bets of the day.

The Rangers opened the second half of the season with a series loss to Baltimore, but they have a great chance to bounce back against Chicago tonight. One reason is the miserable White Sox lineup, which ranks twenty-ninth in batting average and thirtieth in runs scored. It doesn’t appear the All-Star break has changed that, with the team scoring a combined three runs in their first three games since returning.
One advantage the White Sox will have one advantage tonight is starting pitcher Garrett Crochet (6-6, 3.02 ERA). The 25-year-old has broken out in 2024 and hasn’t allowed more than three runs since April 24.
While that would normally make Chicago a tempting bet, Crochet’s success hasn’t translated into wins. The Sox have lost the last five games where the lefty has pitcher, despite him posting a 2.60 ERA. There is also the fact that Crochet owns a 4.17 ERA on the road this season, signaling that he may be in for a tough outing in Arlington tonight.
The Rangers will have Jon Gray (4-4, 3.96 ERA) starting on the mound tonight. The veteran has been erratic this season, but his struggles have come against some of the league’s top lineups. With Gray facing one of the worst lineups in baseball tonight, we expect him to deliver a fantastic outing.
