We have a couple of great bets to share with you for Wednesday’s games. The first comes from a matchup between two disappointing teams as the St. Louis Cardinals visit the Houston Astros. The other is a battle between southern California squads as the San Diego Padres and Los Angeles Angels square off.
Below, we’ll discuss our two favorite bets for today’s slate of games. We’ll use odds from BetMGM Sportsbook, which gives new players who sign up using promo code WSMGM a $1,500 First Bet Offer*.

We are all over the Cardinals to take home a win tonight. St. Louis starter Miles Mikolas (3-6, 5.54 ERA) is a big reason why. The veteran got off to a brutal start of the season, but he has settled in well in May, delivering quality starters in four of his six appearances. We have also seen Mikolas get his WHIP under control, which was a much more manageable 1.18 in May.
While Houston owns one of the most potent lineups in baseball, the Cardinals have stepped up their offense over the last couple of weeks. They are averaging five runs per game since May 20, led by 24-year-old Nolan Gorman (.230 BA, 13 HR, 30 RBI). The young second baseman has a .348 average with five home runs and nine RBIs over the last week, and we love his chances to stay hot today.
The Astros will have Ronel Blanco (5-1, 2.44 ERA, 1.03 WHIP) making the start this afternoon. The pitcher has broken out in a big way at 30, but it's hard to imagine him keeping up this pace all season. Blanco is coming off his worst start of the season, allowing four runs on three hits and three walks over 4 2/3 innings. After finishing with a 1.65 ERA in April, Blanco finished May with a 3.42 ERA. We expect that regression to continue, including tonight against the Cards.

The Padres turned their season around in May, while the Angels saw theirs come crashing down. They went 10-17 during the month and lost eight of their last nine games heading into their series with the Padres. With Mike Trout out and most of the team likely to be leaving via trade this summer, LA no longer has anything to play for. We are planning to profit off of that tonight.
San Diego will send Dylan Cease (5-4, 3.42 ERA) out to face the Angels tonight. The righty was incredible to start the season but fell back down to Earth in May, finishing with a 4.08 ERA. However, he also faced three good teams, the Royals, Yankees, and Braves, to close out the month. Cease will have a far easier time against a floundering Angels team tonight.
The Angels will have Jose Soriano (2-5, 3.86 ERA) making the start this evening. The young righty has seen his career marred by injuries and seems to finally be settling into the MLB. However, Soriano’s last two starts have been rough, allowing eight runs on 11 hits and three walks over 12 innings.
We see another rough outing for Soriano tonight. He will have his hands full with the Padres, who lead the league in batting average (.260) and rank ninth in runs scored (277). Fernando Tatis Jr. (.261 BA, 10 HR, 31 RBI) has been raking lately, posting an impressive nine-game hit streak. While he has yet to gain his superstar form, he is as good as anyone in the league when he gets into the kind of groove he is currently in.
