This matchup features the league’s two most potent offenses, with the Phillies leading the league in runs while the Brewers are in second at 298. However, we expect pitching to determine the outcome of today’s game. That tips the scale in the Phillies' favor as they have Zack Wheeler (6-3, 2.32 ERA, 0.95 WHIP).
Wheeler has been fantastic again this season and has posted four wins across six starts in May. The 34-year-old has been red hot over his last three starts, allowing just four runs across 20 ⅓ innings (1.79 ERA). We don’t expect him to be perfect against a great Brewers lineup, but we think the Phillies will be able to generate plenty of offense to support their ace tonight.
The Brewers will be sending Bryse Wilson (3-1, 3.19 ERA, 1.23 WHIP) to the mound tonight. He has been a pleasant surprise for Milwaukee this season, but he fell back to Earth in May. There is a low ceiling for Wilson, who has only lasted six innings twice this season. Given that the Brewers bullpen has had some holes of late, we think the Phillies lineup is able to put up a considerable number tonight.

The Rangers are finally waking up, but they will take a loss at home today. That's because they will be up against one of the best pitchers in baseball: Tarik Skubal (7-1, 2.01 ERA, 0.82). The 27-year-old broke out for Detroit last season and has been even better in 2024. He has been especially great of late, allowing just four runs over his previous three starts (18 innings). Skubal did face the Rangers back in April and allowed two earned runs over 6 ⅓ innings. Three errors made things challenging for the new ace, but he still managed to deliver a quality start.
The Rangers will have one of their top arms back in Nathan Eovaldi (2-2, 2.84 ERA). The veteran missed almost all of May with an injury, making his return on May 28. Eovaldi did not look sharp in limited time, allowing two runs on five hits over three innings. While the righty was having a good season before going down, his previous start shows he is still working his way back into form.
The Tigers have not been great on offense this season, but they have been the bat well over the last two weeks. They are averaging 5.7 runs per game over their last nine, which was further boosted when they put up eight runs on Boston last night. We see them staying hot against a Rangers’ starter that isn’t quite right.
