We have a pair of great American League games to bet on today. The first is an afternoon battle between the AL West-leading Mariners and the AL East-leading Yankees. The second comes from a lopsided matchup between the Orioles and White Sox.
Below, we will share our favorite bet for each game. The odds we use are taken from FanDuel Sportsbook, which offers new players a welcome bonus of $150 in Bonus Bets when they sign up and make an initial winning wager of $5+.

While this matchup features two teams swinging the bat well, we think today’s matchup will be a pitcher’s duel. Both teams have starting pitchers with sub-2.90 ERA set to take the mound, making life difficult for both offenses.
The Yankees will start Luis Gil (5-1, 2.39 ERA) against the Mariners today. The 25-year-old has broken out for New York this season. He was solid in April but has been quite unhittable in May. Gil has a 0.74 ERA across four starts this month, allowing a total of two runs across 24 1/3 innings. His stuff has been near perfect, taking down even the best lineups. Considering that Seattle ranks twenty-third in runs scored (188) and twenty-fourth in batting average (.229).
The Mainers will have a veteran ace on the mound in Luis Castillo (4-5, 3.28 ERA). The righty had a tough start but has returned to his old self over his last seven starts. He owns a 2.04 ERA during that span and has taken down some potent lineups. Castillo faced another great offense in the Orioles last week and was great, allowing two runs across six innings. While he has been walking more batters than usual, we aren’t worried about it against a New York team with a .156 batting average against him.

The White Sox are not as miserable as they were to begin the year, but this is still a lousy team. They scored the fewest runs in baseball, 32 fewer than the next closest team. That means run support is hard to come by, which is a problem against an Orioles team that has scored the tenth-most runs in baseball. Given that a struggling veteran will be taking the hill for Chicago tonight, we are more than happy to give up the runs to roll with a far superior Baltimore squad.
The Sox will have Mike Clevinger (0-2, 5.56 ERA) making the start tonight. The 33-year-old has only made three starts this season, and they haven’t been great. He has thrown just 11 1/3 innings and has a brutal 1.85 WHIP. His last start came against a great Yankees lineup, and he was shelled for three runs on five hits and two walks over 4 2/3 innings. We don’t see the former star recapturing bouncing back against another great lineup tonight.
The Orioles will have 24-year-old Grayson Rodriguez. The righty was good during his rookie campaign last season, but he has taken a significant step forward in 2024. He has just one bad start on the year but has been excellent in his other six. Rodriguez is currently riding an 11 2/3 inning-scoreless strike, both of which were against division leaders (Mariners and Yankees).
