The second features a thrilling matchup between the Minnesota Twins and Seattle Mariners.

No team has been more disappointing in 2024 than the Houston Astros. The 2023 AL West champs seemed to be breaking out of their slump but lost their last series to the Mariners. Now, they’ll hit the road to visit Yankee Stadium with a struggling rookie on the mound.
The Astros will be starting Spencer Arrighetti (0-3, 8.27 ERA, 1.96 WHIP) against a great Yankees lineup tonight. He is coming off his best start of the season, though that isn’t saying much. The 24-year-old lasted 5 2/3 innings against the Guardians, allowing two runs on four hits and three walks. Walks and hits have been a significant issue for Arrighetti, which explains his astronomical WHIP.
The Yankees offense has been led by Juan Soto (.316 BA, 8 HR, 28 RBI, 4 SB), but now Aaron Judge (.220 BA, 7 HR, 30 RBI) is finally heating up. The former AL MVP has a mini-hit streak going, giving the Yankees’ offense the edge they have been missing. Given Arrighetti’s well-documented struggles, we like his bat to stay hot tonight.
New York will have a resurgent veteran on the mound in Carlos Rodon (2-2, 3.68 ERA). The 31-year-old has bounced back after a brutal and injury-shortened 2023 campaign that saw him finish with a 6.85 ERA. His turnaround kicked off in 2024 with a start against this same Astros team, allowing a run across 4 1/3 innings.
Bet on Yankees Moneyline (-146) at FanDuel
This matchup features two of the hottest teams in baseball. The Twins recently posted a 12-game win streak and continue to play at a high level. The Mariners haven’t been quite as hot, but they are 10-6 over their last 16 games. While their winning ways have been mainly due to improvements on offense, we expect a low-scoring brawl to take place tonight.
The Mariners will start one of their best young pitchers tonight: George Kirby (3-2, 3.76 ERA). The 26-year-old had a rocky start to the season but has been pitching at an elite level recently. Over his last four starts, he has thrown a combined 24 innings and allowed just three runs. While his 3.76 ERA still isn’t overly pretty, his 1.04 WHIP suggests his recent play is far from a fluke.
The Twins will have Chris Paddack (3-1, 4.78 ERA) on the mound against the Mariners. While his numbers aren’t great, he has registered quality starts in two of his last three outings. That includes his previous start, where he held Boston scoreless on two hits across six innings. Given his recent play and his 1.02 home ERA, we think he can keep a mediocre Seattle offense in check tonight.
