Best MLB Bets Today: Mariners vs. Brewers (8:10 PM, EST)

Brewers ML (-125 at BetMGM Sportsbook)

The Milwaukee Brewers started the season as well as they could have hoped. They opened with a road sweep of the Mets before coming home to split a series with the Twins. Their offense has looked far better than expected, with Chourio thriving atop the batting order. His success as a leadoff man has allowed Milwaukee to move Christian Yelich to third in the lineup. Add in Rhys Hoskins, and you get a significant uptick in runs.

Seattle’s lineup did not have the same success early in 2024. They have scored two or fewer runs in three of their last four games, including a loss on Wednesday, when they were shut out by the Guardians. The lineup had some turnovers in the offseason, and Julio Rodriguez is starting cold again, which explains some of their struggles. While they won’t last forever, they won’t be able to figure it out with Freddy Peralta on the mound tonight.

Peralta was incredible in his first start of the season, allowing one hit and one run across six innings. He struck out eight, cruising through the Mets lineup without issue. Now Peralta will be at home, where he has been far better. Given how cold the Mariners lineup is, we like Freddy to cruise again tonight.

This is another excellent bet to make tonight. We talked about Peralta and the struggling Seattle defense, but we didn’t mention Logan Gilbert. The Mariners starter has been great over the last two seasons and kept that momentum going into his first start of 2024. Gilbert allowed one run on four hits against Boston last week. He’ll face a more challenging test against Milwaukee tonight, but we don’t see him getting beaten up too badly.

In addition, both of these teams have very good bullpens, meaning runs will be at a premium throughout the game.

Best MLB Bets Today: Blue Jays vs. Yankees (1:05 PM, EST)

Yankees ML (-155 at BetMGM Sportsbook)

Our second game is a battle between AL East rivals. While both teams have a ton of talent, the Yankees have the edge tonight. The Bronx Bombers have started the season 6-1, silencing some doubters of their offseason moves. The addition of Juan Soto has paid off in a big way, with the former MVP slotting in well in front of Aaron Judge. He has helped cover for a slow start from Judge, leaving us to wonder how good this team will be once the 2022 MVP heats up.

New York will have a significant advantage on the mound tonight. Marcus Stroman will get the start as he looks to build on his success from last week. The veteran was great in a road start against the Astros, holding them scoreless over six innings. 

The Blue Jays will have Yusei Kikuchi on the mound tonight. The veteran is coming off the best season of his career but had a rough start to 2024. Kikuchi was hit hard by the Rays, allowing three runs on six hits and three walks over 4 1/3 innings. Many are worried that last season’s success was a fluke, clouding expectations for this season. He’ll face a tough challenge today, and it will lead to a loss for the Jays.
