Best MLB Bets Today: Royals vs. Orioles (1:05 PM EST)

Baltimore has lived up to the hype early in 2024, thanks partly to the pitcher they’ll have on the mound tonight. Corbin Burnes will get the start for the O’s, looking to build on a dominating opening-day performance. The ace has been one of the best pitchers in baseball over the last few seasons, and he continues to look that part in Baltimore.

Burnes will have a great chance to replicate his opening-day performance as he faces a weak Royals lineup. Kansas City has one of the best young hitters in baseball, Bobby Witt Jr., but it lacks the depth to support him. That will play a significant role tonight as they face Burnes. They haven’t seen the former Brewer often but have a combined average of .140 across 50 at-bats.

The Royals will have Cole Ragans on the mound tonight. The 26-year-old struggled badly with the Rangers but thrived after being traded to Kansas City at last year’s trade deadline. He started 2024 strong, delivering a quality start against the Twins. However, Ragans will face a far better offense today. Look for him to regress, leading to a lopsided win for Baltimore.

Best MLB Bets Today: Reds vs. Phillies (1:05 PM, EST)

Phillies ML (-190 at BetMGM Sportsbook)

While this isn’t a great price, the Phillies' offensive struggles make the run line too risky. We like the Phillies to overcome their slow start tonight because of Zach Wheeler. The ace has been one of the best pitchers in baseball over his last five seasons, and he played like it in his first start of 2024. Wheeler threw six scoreless innings against a great Braves team. He worked with ease, though the Phillies bullpen lost the game. The veteran will be up again with another talented lineup this afternoon, and he sees him delivering another impressive performance.

The Reds will have Frankie Montas on the mound today. The veteran picked up a win in his first start, throwing six scoreless innings against the Nationals. While the Phillies have been struggling at the plate, this lineup is far better than Washington. While Montas is a solid rotation arm, he doesn’t have the dazzling stuff that can challenge some of the league’s top hitters. He'll make mistakes, which will give the Phillies bats the life they desperately need.

While Montas will give up some runs, we don’t see this game getting out of control. Wheeler and Montas will go at least six innings, limiting the damage done. Both bullpens are good enough to keep things under control, which will lead to a low-scoring game.

The Reds and Phillies have a ton of great bats, but the pitchers will come out on top today.
