Queretaro FC’s winless run is still running in Liga MX this Clausura season. In the last five games, Queretaro FC have drawn three and lost two games. They have drawn against CD Guadalajara, Mazatlan FC, and Club Necaxa, and have dropped all points against Club Leon and CF Monterrey.
Deportivo Toluca’s recent form is nothing short of prolific. After a shaky start to the Clausura season, the team has bounced back in the perfect way. Now they are one win away from clinching five wins in a row. Deportivo Toluca have scored 12 goals in the last four games and conceded just two in the process.
Predicting the outcome of this fixture will be an easy one. Deportivo Toluca have the drive and determination to win the encounter with ease and consolidate their position in second place on the Clausura table.
There have been 25 Liga MX encounters between these two sides and Deportivo Toluca have won 13 of them. Seven games have ended in draws, while Queretaro FC have won only on five occasions.
A Camilo brace, along with Leonardo Fernandez’s penalty and Fernando Navarro’s goal helped Deportivo Toluca beat Queretaro FC 4-1 when the two sides last met in the Apertura season. However, this time the game will be in Queretaro FC’s backyard.
In 12 meetings between these two sides at the Estadio La Corregidora, half have ended in stalemates. Deportivo Toluca have won four times, while Queretaro FC have only won twice. The most recent Queretaro FC win over Deportivo Toluca came in the Apertura 2020 season.
After winning just one game out of 17 in the league phase of the Apertura season, Queretaro FC finished at the bottom of the table with a points tally of just nine. Eight games into the new Clausura season, the club are still looking for their first win.
The only reason why Queretaro FC are not at the bottom of the Clausura league table is because of Mazatlan FC’s dismal form. They are at the bottom with one point in eight games and that solitary point came in the game against Queretaro FC two weeks ago.
Out of eight games, Queretaro FC have managed to draw five and lose just three. But the club has now gone 15 games without earning a victory. Their last win in Liga MX came in August 2022 when they beat Club Tijuana 2-0 to end a 14-game winless streak.
In eight games so far this season, Queretaro FC have scored only six goals. The team needs maximum support in the final third to get more goals that could help them turn a few tightly contested draws into wins.
However, the offensive headache continues to get severe for Queretaro FC as two of their strikers are doubtful ahead of the game against Deportivo Toluca. Angel Sepulveda who has gotten off the mark this season is almost certain to miss the match due to a knock.
Apart from that, on-loan striker Ettson Ayon is also doubtful to feature against Deportivo Toluca as he is expected to regain full fitness in a week or so. Ayon has been brought in on loan from Club Tijuana and the 21-year-old has scored one goal in five appearances this season.
The prediction for this game was easy because of the form Queretaro FC have been in for a very long time. However, the game of football is no stranger to upsets. The mentality is what matters when upsets are caused and that is where Queretaro FC are lacking.
The team lacks belief when they move around on the pitch. Morale, obviously, is low because of the poor sequence of results. However, the team must possess the desire to try and turn things around and topple a few giants to create an impact on the league.
Barring an unusual and unlikely upset, Deportivo Toluca are set to extend their winning streak in the Clausura season to five games. The ten-time Liga MX champions are on a prolific run and will try their best to finish at the top of the table this season.
After losing to CF Monterrey, Deportivo Toluca have won four successive games against Cruz Azul, CF Pachuca, Santos Laguna, and Atletico de San Luis. The biggest highlight in this winning run would be the result against Apertura champions CF Pachuca.
In addition to that, Deportivo Toluca were so menacing when they traveled to Santos Laguna and netted five goals past them in their own backyard. Carlos Gonzalez is the club’s joint-top scorer so far, as Deportivo Toluca have ten different goal-scorers this season.
Full-back-turned-winger Maximiliano Araujo has been exceptional down the left flank for Deportivo Toluca this season. The 23-year-old is the club’s joint-top scorer this season with Gonzalez.
In nine matches so far, Araujo has scored three goals and assisted three. In the last match, the Uruguayan did not register any goal contributions but won the most duels of the match and created three chances for his side.
The winger has gone three matches without scoring and will be looking to get his name back on the scoresheet when he comes face-to-face with a vulnerable Queretaro FC side. Araujo’s last goal contribution came in the form of an assist in the game where Deportivo Toluca thumped Santos Laguna 5-0.
Araujo has six goal contributions in nine games, which is the highest at the club this season so far. However, his teammates have also chipped in with goals and assists consistently. Goals and assists have come in plenty from the Deportivo Toluca midfield recently.
Marcel Ruiz has scored two goals and assisted one so far, while his midfield partner Claudio Baeza has registered a couple of assists this season. On the right flank, Jean Meneses has scored one goal and assisted two. So the goals and assists are flowing in from Toluca’s midfield.
