Due to the United States hosting the prestigious Copa America for the second time ever, the USMNT automatically qualified to participate in the tournament. Updated in April the USMNT is currently ranked 11th overall in the FIFA rankings. Most of the books have placed the U.S. with an average shot at winning this year’s edition of the Copa America.

Playing as the host nation will certainly be an advantage for this squad to help push them over the finish line. The USA are heavily favored to get out of Group C with the generous draw they received.
At the minimum, the USMNT should collect six points from Panama and Bolivia with their encounter against Uruguay as a toss-up. If the USA finishes as runners-up in their group, they could potentially face Brazil in the quarterfinals. Should the USMNT finish first in Group C they could clash with Brazil in the semifinals.

Captain America as he’s known successfully enjoyed his first season with AC Milan. In 36 Serie A matches Pulisic found the back of the net 12 times and amassed eight assists. With his national side in 66 international caps, Christian has bagged 28 goals. The American has won U.S. Soccer Player of the Year four times and last year was named CONCACAF Nations League Player of the Tournament. Currently after two matches at the 2024 Copa America, Pulisic has registered one goal to name.

Wright adapted to life quite nicely in his first season in the English Championship with Coventry City. The 26-year-old registered 19 goals between the Championship and FA Cup appearances. Wright has hit double figures in the goals department in his last four club campaigns. It would be no surprise if Wright finishes as the top goal scorer for his country as he has hit the back of the net four times in nine international call-ups.

The 22-year-old had a substandard year with his new outfit in Monaco in the 2023-24 campaign securing seven goals in 29 Ligue 1 appearances. Previously his first season in France, Balogun had a breakout year and acquired 21 league goals. Balogun has shown moments of brilliance with his lethal striking abilities and could salvage an average club season by adding goals to his USMNT account. After two group stage matches in the tournament, Balogun has found the back of the net twice.
For the Americans to come out as Group C winners, they will most likely need to be victorious with their clash against Uruguay, who are favored to win Group C.
Both Uruguay and the USA are expected to defeat Panama and Bolivia making the fixture the all-important difference on who wins the group.

No, they have not, their best-ever finish was in 1995 and 2016 when the United States finished in fourth place.
Does the US team have a chance to win Copa America?
Playing on home soil does give the hope the U.S. squad could pull off a remarkable story. The books have given the United States the sixth-best chance to lift the trophy on July 14.
