Friday evening will see two surprising participants in the 2024 Copa America square off against each other with Canada facing Venezuela at AT&T Stadium in Arlington Texas. This fixture will be the third time in the history of their programs they will clash on the pitch. The previous encounters saw both sides share the points in a pair of friendlies with the last affair occurring in 2010.
The Canadian squad is moved into the quarterfinals after finishing as runners-up in Group A of Copa America with four total points. Saturday's scoreless draw against 10-man Chile was enough to send them packing home. Les Rouges finished the group stage scoring one goal while only conceding two which transpired in their opening match defeat against Argentina.
Meanwhile, Venezuela were the surprise winner of Group B finishing with a perfect group stage record registering all nine points. Somos TRICOLOR soundly defeated Jamaica 3-0 on Sunday night to wrap up the group stage which saw three different Venezuelan players hit the score sheet. It was the first time in seven matches Venezuela had an outburst on offense grabbing three goals in a contest.
Here, we will break down the betting odds and share our favorite picks for Canada vs. Venezuela.
As we have seen throughout the tournament the books are once again leaning towards another low-scoring encounter in this skirmish. The over 2.5 goals is listed at +130 while the under 2.5 goals market is priced at -163.

Displaying another man of the match performance again and arguably Canada’s MVP of the tournament is Maxime Crepeau. The keeper is coming off a second consecutive clean sheet, in which he made four saves in his outing against Chile. Through the group stage, Crepeau has amassed 14 saves in his three starts, keeping Canada competitive in each match they participate in.
He wasn’t given the captain's armband by Jesse Marsch before the start of the tournament, but Stephen Eustaquio exemplifies the qualities of a true leader. The 30-year-old has played every minute in the Copa America so far. As each match has passed, the FC Porto man has improved his passing success rate as the box-to-box midfielder is sitting with an average of 87 percent passing completion rate.

Leading his nation to a thumping victory in their previous match was the veteran striker Jose Salomon Rondon. The 34-year-old found the back of the net for the second time as in many games. The captain of Venezuela hasn’t hesitated to be adventurous up front as the forward has 13 total shots through 247 minutes played.
Like Canada, Venezuela is getting supreme net-minding that is also carrying this squad as the tournament goes along. Rafael Romo has also earned two straight clean sheets in his last two starts. The 34-year-old is putting on a phenomenal display stopping 10 shots including one penalty save against Mexico in their second group-stage fixture.
Venezuela enters this quarterfinals fray hitting over 2.5 goals in two of their three group stage games. This run-in with Canada could halt another over 2.5 total hitting again with what Les Rouges are doing on the backend and upfront. Canada has only managed to score one goal even with the benefit of being up an extra man for the majority against Peru and Chile. The Canucks just lack that killer instinct in the final third of the pitch and will most likely struggle once again. Both squads have goalkeepers playing out of their minds at the moment and see no reason why they won’t put on another dashing exhibit. Now that we were in the do-or-die territory of the tournament both sides didn’t want to gamble as much as they needed to in the group stage.
