U.S. Open Championship 2019 Pebble Beach - Prop Bets and Odds

There are hundreds of bets that can be made on the U.S. Open and most of them have intriguing odds that possibly hold value for bettors.

Who Has the Best Chance at Being the First Round Leader?

Brooks Koepka

The most aggressive golfer on the PGA Tour, Koepka has the skill set to absolutely dominate from the opening tee shot and post a low score at Pebble Beach in the opening round.

Koepka’s first two rounds at a very tough Bethpage course were 63 and 65 and let’s not forget that his Thursday at Augusta was a 66.

Dustin Johnson

In Johnson’s 12 first rounds this year, he has posted a score in the 60s in nine events. This includes a first round 68 at the Masters, 69 at the Players and PGA Championship.

Considering his role as favorite this weekend, there would be little surprise to see Johnson sneak into the 60s on Thursday and atop the leaderboard.

Rory McIlroy (+2000)

Rory falls down on this list because he’s a notoriously slow starter. At the PGA and Masters this year, McIlroy posted a 72 and 73, less than impressive opening rounds.

Tiger Woods

Woods is also down the list a bit as bookmakers take into account his terrible performance at the PGA. Tiger could easily post the low score on Thursday due to his familiarity with Pebble Beach.

Patrick Cantlay

Another hot golfer that is making his way onto the betting sheet is Patrick Cantlay. Winner at the Memorial after placing 3rd at the PGA Championship makes Cantlay a popular bet.

In Cantlay’s nine top ten finishes this season, the golfer has six opening rounds in the 60s. His three rounds in the 70s may make him a better bet for winning the tournament.

Jordan Spieth

In his last four tournaments, Spieth has opened with rounds of 68, 69, 65, and 66. The 25-year old golfer may be out of his slump and ready to claim another major title.

Who Wins Their Thursday Pairing?

Here’s another interesting prop bet as wagers can be placed on which golfer wins their threesome pairing on Thursday. Here are the odds for the most intriguing groups.

10:13 p.m. EST – Dustin Johnson, Phil Mickelson, Graeme McDowell

Of course, anything can happen in golf, but it is surprising that Johnson doesn’t have higher odds to lead this three-person group at the end of the first round.

3:47 p.m. EST – Francesco Molinari, Viktor Hovland, Brooks Koepka

Another trio with a clear cut favorite in Koepka, but an intriguing backup in Molinari.

Don’t completely dismiss Hovland either as the golfer finished tied for 32nd at the Masters this year with a 3-under total.

4:09 p.m. EST – Jordan Spieth, Justin Rose, Tiger Woods

A lot of eyes will be on this group as they start in the afternoon, with Woods as the slight favorite over the others to win lowest Thursday round.
