The stunning Pebble Beach Golf Links will host its sixth U.S. Open tournament this weekend, its first since 2010.
The course has held two U.S. Opens in the 2000s, with Irishman Graeme McDowell winning in 2010 and Tiger Woods taking home the trophy in 2000.
Woods’ victory in 2000 was by a whopping 15 strokes, so needless to say, Tiger loves Pebble Beach.
In 2009, Lucas Glover won a rain-altered U.S. Open at Bethpage with a strong combination of length and accuracy coupled with clutch putting that saved his scores and lifted him to the title.
Although he’s ranked fourth in the favorites for the weekend, if Woods retains the strength he showed at Augusta, then the course plays favorably to his strengths.
Woods has conserved his strength in the buildup to the U.S. Open, unlike his schedule ramping up for the PGA Championship where he failed to make the cut.
“Augusta I was right where I needed to be. I was hitting it high, I could shape it either way,” Woods said.
“Bethpage, a different story. I was good going into the week, unfortunately just didn’t feel well. And this week I feel like I’m trending in the right direction.”
Woods is among four golfers who have been talked about all week as the golfers to beat this weekend at Pebble Beach, but could a dark horse be lurking in the shadows?

With Koepka and Woods garnering most of the attention, Dustin Johnson has once again taken the throne of the favorite with Rory McIlroy.
D.J will once again be a favorite because he hasn’t finished lower than 45th at a tournament this season. His 2nd place finish at the PGA Championship is the crown jewel of his season.

The four-time major winner has two huge victories this season, including last week’s stunner at the RBC Canadian Open where McIlroy flirted with a final round 59.
According to the advanced metrics, McIlroy is playing some of the best golf of his career and that is why we see him tied with Johnson for the title of 2019 U.S. Open favorite.

Winner of four of the last eight majors, how Koepka isn’t favored in every tournament he enters is beyond most rational logic.
Koepka remains a bit underrated even at 10-1 and an early Thursday sub-70 score could clear the field again for the golfer’s fifth major championship.

If Woods is in a tournament, then he will remain a popular bet among the public.
His historic win at Pebble Beach in the 2000 U.S. Open was over 19 years ago, can the 15-time major winner summon Augusta magic to get one step closer to Jack Nicklaus’ major win record?

If there is a dark horse favorite outside of the top four, then Spieth is garnering some major attention.
Spieth has yet to win this year on the PGA Tour but his 3rd place finish at the PGA Championship and 7th place at the Memorial have put the golf world on notice.
