TGL Golf Odds, Favorites, Team Rosters, Schedule & How it Works 2025

It is starting a year later than originally planned but the inaugural TGL season is upon us and it has star backing in the form of Tiger Woods and Rory McIlroy who created it alongside high flying sport exec Mike McCarley and the PGA Tour.

It is hi-tech golf for the modern age, designed for television audiences and takes place early in the week during the evening.

Six teams, each with a squad of four players, take each other on in a specially designed mini indoor stadium. The players hit into a simulator and utilize a constructed green for short game and putting.

What Does TGL Stand for, and Who Is Backing it?

TGL Stands for Tomorrow’s Golf League.

In addition to Woods and McIlroy, some huge names in sports are involved with the TGL tournament.

NBA stars Steph Curry, Shaquille O'Neal, Dwyane Wade and Kevin Durant. Formula One driver Lewis Hamilton, the soccer player Alex Morgan, MLB players Shohei Ohtani and Mike Trout, the Buffalo Bills quarterback Josh Allen, tennis player Serena Williams, and pop star Justin Timberlake.

How Does TGL Work?

The mini stadium is set up at the SoFi Center in Palm Beach and the six team play each other once in a league format. The top four team at the end of the regular season will playoff for the title.

Each match sees three of the four squad members face off over 15 virtual holes. The first nine holes are played as alternate shot triples, then there are six holes of singles play with each player competing against an opponent for two holes.

Scoring? One point for each hole with nothing for a tie and no carryovers. The team with most points wins. If the game is a tie there is a sudden death nearest-the-pin. The winning team gets two points and a sudden death defeat is worth one point.

In post-season the team ranked first in the league plays the team ranked fourth. Second plays third. The two winners progress to the championship series.

What Makes it Different?

In addition to being indoors, at night, over a short format there is a shot clock to speed up play, timeouts for strategy, a hammer to boost score, overtime (near-the-pin) and match referees.
