Rory McIlroy is one of the co-founders of TGL but after three matches his Boston Common Golf is the only team yet to record a win in the new indoor league.
They do have a point at least, that coming courtesy of an Overtime loss to Tiger’s Jupiter Island, the team one place above them although both are currently outside the playoff spots.
Boston followed that opening defeat with a fairly emphatic 6-2 reverse against Los Angeles before again being on the wrong side of a close contest against The Bay.
That one was all square after 15 before Wyndham Clark settled it in The Bay’s favor.
On the same evening. Atlanta Drive was also beaten by The Bay.
It followed their dramatic Overtime win over Los Angeles and perhaps the two results were linked, with Atlanta’s Justin Thomas admitting he felt “tired” after an intense double session.
That was Atlanta’s first loss of the TGL so they remain in strong position to make the playoffs.
Their first win came courtesy of a 4-0 shutout of New York and they start Monday occupying third place in the six-team table. The top four progress.
In the outright market (bet365), Atlanta is +280 to win the trophy, behind +220 The Bay and +260 Los Angeles. Boston Common is the clear outsider at +2000.

Triples: Holes 1-9 - Each team of three playing in alternate-shot format
Singles: Holes 10-15 - One-vs-one, head-to-head competition for the entire hole. Each player from each team plays a total of two full holes

Bradley has come on strong in Singles play, winning his last four holes in the TGL. He’s also part of a Boston side which ranks second (out of six) for both Driving Accuracy and Greens In Regulation. Out on the PGA TOUR, the US Ryder Cup skipper has three top 15s and looked sharp from tee-to-green at Torrey Pines last time.
The more reserved Matsuyama doesn’t seem the ideal fit for a noisy, brash event like this but let’s not forget that he’s a two-time winner of the Phoenix Open, the wildest tournament on the PGA TOUR. A champion at The Sentry last month and 13th at Torrey Pines last week, he’ll be more attuned to the test here after making his debut in the 5-4 loss to The Bay last Monday.
Rory’s high-class consistency is shown by the stat that he hasn’t finished outside the top 25 in any tournament since August. He’s also made the top four in six of his last eight events, winning two of those including his recent success at Pebble Beach. But he’ll be frustrated that his team hasn’t clicked into gear yet in the TGL. He’s managed just a solitary point from six Singles matches (vs. Tiger in the opening game) and that needs changing.

Thomas is having a blast in TGL and that’s shone through in his Singles record. JT has yet to lose any of his six holes, winning three and halving three. And he came up trumps in the win over LAGC last week, holing out with a wedge to send the game to Overtime, a shootout his team won. He’s been in hot form on the PGA TOUR too, with second, sixth and ninth in five 2025 starts.
Horschel has helped bring the X factor to Atlanta Drive, playing to the crowd and helping his team play loose. He also scored a crucial 2pts win (Hammer) in his Singles against Justin Rose in that 6-5 win over LAGC. Back-to-back missed cuts on the PGA TOUR since ninth at Pebble will have frustrated him.
Cantlay lost three of his four Singles holes in last Monday’s two matches and admits he’s struggled a little bit with greenside chipping on the Astro Turf. That said, he’s still played his part in Atlanta Drive’s two wins and is really starting to heat up on the PGA TOUR after top fives at both The American Express and The Genesis Invitational.

Atlanta Drive is a tough opponent.
With Justin Thomas often providing the sparks, ADGC has delivered and were a shade unlucky not to make it three wins from three when being edged out by The Bay.
But a glance at the SoFi standings is also revealing.
Looking at holes won, the top two teams enjoy healthy splits. The Bay Golf Club has won 18 holes and lost 8, while second-placed Los Angeles has a 20-7 split.
But in third-placed Atlanta’s three matches they’ve won 11 holes and lost 11 holes. In other words, the margins are very tight.
There’s no hiding the fact that Boston Common is bottom of the league but in two of their three contests they’ve been edged out by a point.
One of those was an Overtime loss.
In short, Boston looks due and I’m willing to back them here to get over the line.
McIlroy faces Cantlay in Singles and should enjoy the long par 5 (Riptide) that concludes their two-hole battle.
Matsuyama has better current form than Horschel and although Thomas will be a tough cookie, Bradley winning his last four Singles holes shows that the Ryder Cup skipper could get his way against JT.
McIlroy will be desperate to put a win on the board and if Boston does so, hopes of the playoffs remain alive.
It could be tight again but the vote goes to Boston.
