The New York Subliners go into this tie as overwhelming favorites. They haven’t got the best league record this season, with 16 wins and 11 losses from their 27 matches, but their ceiling is much higher than Boston Breach. They had a torrid March, but it wasn’t much better for the Boston Breach.
Boston Breach are just about managing a win rate of over 50% this season. They’ve won 13 and lost 11 of their 24 matches in the league this season. They haven’t improved much since last season, but they haven’t regressed either.
New York Subliners have won all three matches played against the Boston Breach, so it’s best to play safe with this match and go for a Subliners win. It must be noted that all three wins were tight affairs, ending 3-2 in the Subliners’ favor.
New York Subliners have a fantastic opportunity to gain some form again. This is a side they’ve had a lot of success against in the last few seasons, and a win would help them get on the same points as third-placed OpTic Texas.
They’ve got an excellent record on Hard Point, with 42 wins and 20 losses this season. This is the only game mode where Boston Breach have done reasonably well this season, but the Subliners’ excellent record on this game mode makes it even harder for Boston Breach to get something out of this game.
Their record on Search & Destroy isn’t the best but neither is Boston Breach’s, so this perceived weakness is unlikely to be an issue. PaulEhx will have to show his best form in this game mode. He averages 0.72 kills per round, with an exceptional KD of 1.13. They’ll also have to find a way to accommodate Crimsix, who has struggled in this game mode all season, with a KD of 0.89 and 0.62 kills per round.
The record on Control is average at best with 22 wins and 20 losses this season. HyDra has been exceptional in this game mode, with 20.9 kills per 10 minutes and a KD of 1.13 The Subliners aren’t reliant on any one member, which makes them a difficult side to play against. With two heavy hitters, it’s difficult for teams to switch strategies between modes.
Overall, there isn’t a lot for them to be worried about regarding Boston Breach. Their upcoming opponents don’t really have the tools to target any weaknesses, whereas the Subliners have more than enough to cause Boston Breach a lot of damage.
There’s almost nothing about this match-up that favors Boston Breach. They’re yet to win a game against the Subliners, and they aren’t in the best of form heading into this tie. Unlike the Subliners, however, March wasn’t the worst month for them.
The Boston Breach have a versatile squad with different stars for each game mode. They have a positive record on Hardpoint, with 35 wins and 33 losses this season, but it isn’t as good as the Subliners’ record on Hardpoint. Nero has an excellent kills per 10 minutes average of 25.9 on this game mode, but he can be a bit vulnerable defensively, as the 0.95 KD suggests. The team needs to do a better job of accommodating his strengths in this game mode.
There’s a similar issue on Control, where Boston Breach have a win-loss record of 16-23. Even though Nero averages 18.5 kills per 10 minutes in this game mode, he only has a KD of 0.89. His attacking flair is completely neutralized because his teammates don’t protect him well enough.
Capsidal, on the other hand, has no such issues on Search & Destroy. He averages 0.77 kills per round, with a healthy KD of 1.11. Playing around his strengths in this game mode feels like a far more prudent strategy, and Boston Breach might get some joy in this game mode as the Subliners’ record isn’t any better than theirs. Ultimately, it’s hard to see Boston Breach win this game if the Subliners play to their potential.
