The big semi-finals will see India take on England in Guyana while South Africa will face the formidable Afghanistan side, who are on a dream run in the tournament. 

The first semi-final has the Proteas, unbeaten for seven games in the tournament, aiming to reach their first ever final of an ICC World Cup tournament. On the other hand, the opponents Afghanistan entered the semi-finals on the back of a splendid performance in the Super Eights, beating Australia and Bangladesh to enter the semi-finals. Heinrich Klaasen is South Africa’s best player of spin and with Afghanistan having a plethora of spin options, the South African will be key to counter them. Klaasen is one of the best spin hitters in the world in T20 cricket today and South Africa need him to not only stay for long at the crease but also maximize runs against Afghanistan’s spinners. 

With the Trinidad surface expected to aid turn for the spinners, South Africa need to be wary of the threat they pose. Their middle-order, in particular, isn’t too strong against spin with Klaasen being an exception. Ibrahim Zadran to Be the Top-Scorer for Afghanistan (+270) on FanDuel

With plenty of pace and bounce in South Africa’s bowling ranks, Ibrahim Zadran would be key to building a good total for the Afghans. The opener is the third top run-scorer in the tournament with 229 runs at an average of 32.71. He and his opening partner, Rahmanullah Gurbaz, has been in fine form for Afghanistan throughout the T20 World Cup, playing an integral part in their run to the semis. 

However, a big test awaits them against the Proteas pace attack, and the key to unlocking that might just be Zadran, who has a strong backfoot play, and is capable of swinging games with the bat. In each of Afghanistan’s vital wins this tournament, Zadran has played a key role. Expect him to come to the party again this time in the semi-finals against the mighty South Africans.

Rohit Sharma to Be the Top-Scorer for India (+275) on BetMGM

England’s best player of spin would be needed by the team to step up against India’s three-prong spin attack comprising of Kuldeep Yadav, Ravindra Jadeja and Axar Patel. Bairstow is in good form this tournament and has a fine record in the Caribbean Islands. The wicketkeeper batter exhibited good stroke play against the spinners in the middle overs and also boasts of an excellent record against India. 

With all of India’s bowlers familiar to him, Bairstow will be the key batter in England’s middle-order and their main hope in raising a good total at this venue and against this attack.
