One humdinger after another and the nerve-wracking Group stage of the ICC Men’s T20 World Cup 2024 is finally close to reaching a conclusion. A crucial day for Group D at the T20 World Cup with Bangladesh and Netherlands fighting it out for one spot in the Super Eight.
Sri Lanka and Nepal are knocked out from the Group, the latter after a heartbreaking one-run loss to South Africa. Bangladesh only need to beat Nepal to book their Super Eight spot, but if they lose and Netherlands beat Sri Lanka, we could see a twist in the Group.
Pakistan are due to take on Ireland in an irrelevant Group A game with India, the USA having already entered the Super Eight. With the game set to take place in Florida, expect a rain-interrupted game, if at all we see any action.
The odds for the T20 World Cup are taken from FanDuel and BetMGM sportsbooks.
FanDuel is offering users a $200 in bonus bets after placing a $5 winning wager.
BetMGM gives you a $1,500 in Bonus Bets if if it’s not a winning wager.

With heavy rains in Florida, totally expect a washout in this Group A fixture, but if you do want to place bets, bank on Pakistan’s Mohammad Rizwan to make an impact at the top of the order against this Ireland bowling line-up.
In case you do wish to place a bet, make a calculated choice from one of India's bowlers, ideally Arshdeep Singh, who comes off the back of a brilliant four-wicket haul in helpful conditions.
Rizwan is one of the most consistent batters in T20Is with his average reflecting the same. Among batters to bat over 50 times in men’s T20Is, Rizwan’s batting average of 49.19 is exceeded only by Virat Kohli. With 29 half-centuries and a hundred to his name, Rizwan knows to make the big runs and excels at building the innings.
In three games against Ireland in this format, Rizwan has two half-centuries. With a role at the top of the order in a game expected to be marred by rain, Rizwan is ideally placed to be the top run-scorer in this match.
Rizwan has 499 runs this year in T20Is in 16 games, averaging 49.9, and makes a fifty once every four innings on an average. You can bank on him to score more than 25.5 runs this game to win you a very safe bet.

Kushal Bhurtel was Nepal’s standout all-rounder in the game against South Africa with a four-wicket haul followed by a short, impactful knock at the top with the bat. While it was his bowling that clearly stood out against the Proteas, Bhurtel unfurled a few back foot shots which exhibited his excellence in tackling pace bowlers.
Bangladesh’s quick bowlers are in good form after a promising show against South Africa, and at St Vincent, as we saw in the game between Nepal and South Africa, there will be seam movement and bounce for the quicks. Bhurtel, having played the previous game at this very same venue, will be best equipped to take on the Bangladesh quicks in the early half of the innings.
Bhurtel has 166 runs in six innings in T20Is this year and has two half-centuries. His overall T20I batting record isn’t very promising either. This isn’t a safe bet by any means, but neither is it a risky one, with the punt backed by evidence of how he played on this very surface one day ago.

Towhid Hridoy has been Bangladesh’s top batter in this tournament so far, making impactful knocks from down the order. The middle-order batter is excellent against pace and spin and at a venue where batting was found to be pretty hard, Bangladesh need this youngster to save them again.
New-ball batting hasn’t been easy at St Vincent and that trend is expected to continue for this game. This would make the job pretty hard for Bangladesh’s top-order with Nepal bowlers showing shrewd awareness of conditions to nearly snatch a win from South Africa. Hridoy comes in to bat lower down the order and can make an impact here, especially given how well he plays spinners.
Hridoy has 540 runs in 25 matches for Bangladesh in this format, but his best run of form hass come in 2024, where he has 349 runs at an average of 35 and a strike-rate of 132.7.

In Sri Lanka’s final game of the tournament, they play Netherlands at one of the better batting tracks in the tournament. This would mean that a major chunk of the wickets would likely fall in the death overs rather than at the beginning. Matheesha Pathirana is Sri Lanka’s mainstay in the final few overs in this format and his slight action, pinpoint accuracy and high pace make him a strong candidate to be the top wicket-taker this match.
Like we saw in the Nepal v South Africa game, the biggest challenge for players from some of the smaller cricketing nations is handling extra zip and pace or any kind of variation. Pathirana’s bowling action is something they rarely face, if at all, and his high pace and low release position further make him a prominent threat. Back the Sri Lankan seamer to be the top wicket-taker against Netherlands in this Group D game.

Sri Lanka’s batting hasn’t found handling pacers very easy in this tournament. Logan van Beek ha stood out for Netherlands with his accuracy and movement off the pitch and is the major threat Sri Lanka will have to face this game.
The Dutch pace bowler has excelled in pressure situations and his ability to let them ball zip through from length makes him a prime candidate to trouble sub-continent batters. Van Beek showed his quality with the ball throughout this tournament and in this game against Sri Lanka, you can take a punt on him to be the top wicket-taker.
