Adelaide Strikers might have been at their best in the last few weeks, but Sydney Sixers hold the edge when it comes to head-to-head records. They have won 10 of the 16 fixtures against the Strikers, with the boys from South Australia emerging victoriously on six occasions. Hence.
Sydney Sixers are the favourites to win this clash (-118)

Adelaide Strikers will lock horns with Sydney Sixers in the Challenger clash of Big Bash League 2021/22. The winner of this match will compete against Perth Scorchers in the final on Friday, while the loser will have to call curtains to their campaign.
Not many would have expected the Strikers it to even make to the playoffs after losing seven of their first eight fixtures, but they have been absolutely flawless in the second half of the competition. The Strikers are coming into this game high on confidence, having won all of their last six matches.
Sydney Sixers, on the other hand, have been prime contenders for the title right from the very beginning of the competition. The defending champions finished second in the league phase with nine wins from 14 matches but were handed a comprehensive 48-run defeat by Perth Scorchers in the Qualifier game.
Given Adelaide Strikers’ exemplary run of form, there is no reason why head coach Jason Gillepsie and his think tank should consider making changes to the well-drilled playing XI. Experienced leg-spinner Fawad Ahmed is perhaps the only Adelaide player who has not done well in his last couple of matches, and though they have an option of going pace-heavy with Daniel Worrall, the Strikers management is unlikely to make avoidable tweaks at this stage of the competition.
Sydney Sixers’ case is exactly the opposite, as they would ideally like to make changes after a disappointing outing against Perth Scorchers in Qualifier 1, especially in their batting department, but they are short of options. Jack Edwards is already out of the competition after returning a positive diagnosis for COVID-19, while Daniel Hughes is yet to recover from his grade 2-3 left ankle ligament injury. Australian national team’s spinner Nathan Lyon went wicketless against the Scorchers and the Sixers management has an alternative ready in the form of Lloyd Pope, but given his vast experience, the former is expected to get the nod.
Josh Philippe: Josh Philippe has had a fantastic season for Sydney Sixers and will now be aiming for a strong finish. The 24-year-old is currently his team’s leading run-scorer, having scored 429 runs in 15 matches at a commendable strike rate of 143.47. Philippe has struck four half-centuries in this competition, the latest of which came against local rivals Sydney Thunder around a couple of weeks ago.
Peter Siddle: Peter Siddle has not only been Adelaide Strikers’ best bowler in this competition, but he also is topping the chart of BBL 2021/22’s leading wicket-takers. The 37-year-old has scalped 29 wickets in 16 matches at an average of only 17.37. The Victoria lad has a four-wicket haul and a five-wicket haul to his name, both of which came against the Hobart Hurricanes.
