Sri Lanka and the United Arab Emirates have only faced each other once in T20 internationals back in 2016, where Sri Lanka came out victorious. Sri Lanka have a much stronger batting and bowling units compared to the UAE and despite losing their first game, they will start heavy favorites.

The United Arab Emirates and Sri Lanka will be looking to open the account and stay alive in the 2022 T20 World Cup when they meet in the sixth match of the tournament. The clash will take place at Geelong on Tuesday, October 18th.
Sri Lanka suffered a shocking defeat at the hands of Namibia in their opening game and damaged their net run-rate (-2.750) in the process. They were hammered by 55 runs at Geelong on Sunday, and now are in a dire need of a big victory.
Sri Lankan bowlers let the game slip away versus Namibia, conceding 70 runs in the last 5.4 overs. Chasing 164, they lost their top four inside seven overs and could not recover. Dasun Shanaka showed a little resistance but they were eventually bowled out for 108.
The UAE lost their first game to Netherlands by three wickets and need to win this game to stay alive in the competition. Muhammad Waseem top scored with 41 but none of the batters could really get going, managing only 111/8 in 20 overs. The bowling attack led by Junaid Siddique - who snared 3 for 24 - showed a good fight and had the opponents 6 down for 76. In the end, Netherlands just managed to edge past with one ball to spare.
Sri Lanka have some serious issues in their bowling attack in death overs. Dushmantha Chameera's form this year has been a concern. Losing Dilshan Madushanka to an injury was a big blow ahead of the tournament opener. They're likely to bring in Lahiru Kumara for Pramod Madushan in this fixture. The batting unit completely flopped in the first game and will need a strong comeback. A lot rests on their opening duo of Kusal Mendis and Pathum Nissanka along with Bhanuka Rajapaksa and Dasun Shanaka down the order.
The UAE openers Chirag Suri and Muhammad Waseem showed no intent to score quicker at the top after which their middle order collapsed. They will need a better performance against Sri Lanka, especially from Waseem and Vriitya Aravind. The bowling attack, on the other hand, fought hard. Right arm seamers Junaid Siddique and Zahoor Khan were outstanding while spinners Karthik Meiyappan and Aayan Afzal Khan also did a good job.
Dushmantha Chameera: The leader of the Sri Lankan bowling attack hasn't bowled like one in a while. But he remains a key figure for the side. His ability to bowl good pace and back of a length could be crucial against the vulnerable batting unit of the UAE. Chameera has 49 wickets in T20 internationals at an economy of 8.17.
Dasun Shanaka: The Sri Lankan skipper was the only batter to cross the 25-run mark in the first game. He has been in superb form this year, scoring 448 runs in 18 matches at an average of 34 while striking at 144. Some of his knocks this year include 47* off 19, 74* off 38 versus India, 54* off 25 against Australia and an 18-ball 33 against India in the Asia Cup.
