Mumbai Indians have a slight upper hand in terms of head-to-head records, as they have won 113 of the 26 matches against Rajasthan Royals with the boys in pink emerging victoriously on 12 occasions. However, that will not mean much in this fixture, given that the Royals have been miles better than their opponents in IPL 2022. Hence, we have predicted Sanju Samson’s team to win this game.

Rajasthan Royals: Jos Buttler, Devdutt Padikkal, Sanju Samson (c & wk), Shimron Hetmyer, Riyan Parag, James Neesham, Ravichandran Ashwin, Trent Boult, Kuldeep Sen, Prasidh Krishna, Yuzvendra Chahal.
Mumbai Indians: Rohit Sharma (c), Ishan Kishan (wk), Suryakumar Yadav, Tilak Varma, Tim David, Kieron Pollard, Hrithik Shokeen, Fabian Allen, Arjun Tendulkar, Riley Meredith, Jasprit Bumrah.
Rajasthan Royals will take on Mumbai Indians in the 44th match of the 2022 Indian Premier League Season at Mumbai’s Dr DY Patil Sports Academy on Saturday, 30th April.
Expectations from high from Rajasthan Royals after a successful IPL 2022 auction, and it will be fair to say that they have not let anyone down so far. Sanju Samson’s team started their campaign with two consecutive victories, but then experienced a slump as they lost two of their next three matches. However, the 2008 champions bounced back in fashion and will be coming into this fixture on the back of three successive triumphs.
Describing Mumbai Indians’ journey is a whole lot simpler as they have followed only one path so far – the path towards defeat. The five-time champions have been at their very worst, for they have won all of their first eight matches and will now be playing for pride.
Rajasthan Royals’ decision of reintegrating Kuldeep Sen in the playing XI against Royal Challengers Bangalore paid off, as the youngster picked up a four-wicket haul. However, one decision proved to be unsuccessful and that was to include Daryl Mitchell in the team, as he looked off-colour with the bat. The Kiwi all-rounder could make way for another player of his epoch and from the same country, in James Neesham.
Mumbai Indians, on the other hand, will not be particularly interested in fine-tuning, as they need radical changes. They could play an extra spinner in Fabien Allen by dropping Daniel Sams, given that the latter has had a horrendous season far. Besides that, mega-money signing Tim David could be included for Dewald Brevis, who started the competition on a fantastic note but has not been on song in the recent matches. Sachin Tendulkar’s Arjun Tendulkar has been with the Mumbai Indians for a while now, but he could finally make his debut at the expense of Jaydev Unadkat.
Jos Buttler: Though we are only halfway into the competition, it seems that the race for the orange cap is already over since Jos Buttler has taken a gigantic lead, courtesy of his sensational performances with the bat. The Rajasthan Royals opener has scored 499 runs at an average of 71.28 and an equally impressive strike rate of 159.42. He has scored three centuries – against Mumbai Indians, Kolkata Knight Riders and Delhi Capitals, and two half-centuries – against Royal Challengers Bangalore and Gujarat Titans.
Tilak Verma: Mumbai Indians will hardly find one positive to take from this nightmarish campaign, but Tilak Verma is one much-needed exception for them. Whilst the renowned stars in the likes of Rohit Sharma and Ishan Kishan have not delivered with the bat, the youngster has been very consistent and is currently his team’s leading run-scorer, having scored 272 runs at an average of 45.33 and a strike rate of 14.20. Verma has struck a couple of half-centuries – one of which came against the Royals themselves, with the other coming against Chennai Super Kings.
