Harry Kane was the top scorer in the Bundesliga in the 2023/24 season
There are several contenders to finish as the Bundesliga top scorer this term
The campaign will feature 34 rounds of fixtures spread over a nine-month period
The 2024/25 Bundesliga season began on August 23 and will run until May 17. Bayern Munich and Bayer Leverkusen are among the contenders to win the title, but there are plenty of other things to look out for.
One of those is the race to finish as top scorer. Harry Kane stormed to the prize last time out and is widely expected to do so again. Can the Englishman be stopped?
Let’s take a look at the Bundesliga top scorer 2024/25 odds and analyze the main candidates.
Harry Kane is the clear favorite to finish the Bundesliga season as top scorer for the second year in a row. The Bayern Munich striker was recently helped by Manchester City, who signed his closest contender Omar Marmoush from Eintracht Frankfurt in the winter window.
Kane has 21 goals to his name, putting him seven clear of the chasing pack. The England international helped himself to another brace the weekend before last, but he was ineffectual against Bayer Leverkusen last time out.

Patrik Schick scored seven times as Bayer Leverkusen won the Bundesliga title last season. After just 19 appearances in 2024/25, Schick has doubled that tally with 14 goals to his name. The Czech Republic international is now Harry Kane’s closest contender following Omar Marmoush’s exit.
The question is whether Schick can keep this form up. He has been a streaky player in the past and Leverkusen have other attacking options which allows them to share the goals around. However, Schick could pounce if Kane gets injured.

Tim Kleindienst has scored 14 goals for Borussia Monchengladbach, meaning he is one of only seven players to have reached double figures by the middle of February. Still, Kleindienst will struggle to climb to the top of the charts from here.
Gladbach tend to blow hot and cold and that impacts their striker’s chances of finishing above the likes of Harry Kane. Yet on a personal level, Kleindienst will be pleased with his efforts so far this season.

Jonathan Burkardt is not a household name outside Germany, but he is enjoying a strong season at Mainz. The 24-year-old has made 18 appearances, during which time he has made the net bulge on 13 occasions - an impressive return for anyone, never mind a player plying his trade for a so-called lesser club.
Simply being in the conversation at this relatively late stage of the campaign is an achievement in itself for Burkardt, but it would take a monumental effort for him to overtake Harry Kane from this position.

Hugo Ekitike spent last season on loan at Eintracht Frankfurt before making the move permanent last summer. In 21 appearances in 2024/25, he has scored 12 goals - a tally which places him sixth in the Bundesliga goal charts.
Ekitike has stepped up to the plate since it became clear that Omar Marmoush was on his way to Manchester City. The former Paris Saint-Germain attacker has made the net bulge five times in the last month, including a double against Hoffenheim.
