As the professional boxing schedule gathers pace towards a grandstand finish to 2024 and some mouthwatering fights, followers have another exciting weekend of championship bouts. The highlight of this week’s action comes to us from the Scope Arena in Norfolk, Virginia, on Friday. Legendary promoter Bob Arum offers a competitive eight-fight card, and fans can follow all the action on major television broadcasters, ESPN and Sky Sports.
The main attraction from Virginia pairs Keyshawn Davis and Gustavo Daniel Lemos in a contest scheduled for 10 rounds in the lightweight division. There’s no world title on the line here, but both gladiators know victory before a global audience would lift them through the ranks and boost their chances of landing a money-spinning title fight next year. But which man will come out on top, the unbeaten Davis or the experienced Lemos?
Followers of World Sports Network enjoy the big fight preview and predictions of former professional boxer and respected sports writer Frankie Monkhouse. Keep reading as he brings you up-to-speed on the form of both men involved in the main attraction, gets the latest on the betting odds, and offers his expert opinion on where to place your stake.
WSN has everything you need to enjoy this weekend’s professional boxing and global sports action.
The pre-fight betting odds show traders working at all the best boxing sportsbooks expect victory for Keyshawn Davis in his homecoming fight. If you agree, you’ll find Davis no bigger than -600 at bet365, and that’s tight against such a dangerous opponent. Yes, I think he’ll win, but those odds suggest he need only turn up, and we know that’s not true.
Fancy the upset? Gustavo Daniel Lemos represents value this weekend, and he’s sure to be popular with boxing bettors at the +400 and available at bet365. He has lost only one fight in a 30-bout career stretching back to 2016, and the spare came in a world title eliminator. Don’t write off the underdog too easily, as he brings power in both hands.

Keyshawn Davis enters his 12th bout as a professional fighter, with his record showing 11 wins and seven scored inside the distance. The popular 25-year-old from Virginia will enjoy the backing of passionate home support this weekend, and he aims to move his CV to a perfect dozen. The Businessman is currently ranked fourth in America and tenth in the world at lightweight, a category that Gervona Davis currently leads. Keyshawn has done incredibly well to blast his way into the top ten but knows the real work starts here if he wants to move from prospect to challenger to champion.
Davis made his professional debut back in 2021 with a second-round stoppage win over opponent Lester Brown at the Hard Rock Stadium in Miami Gardens. Marking his arrival with a stunning win on the undercard of Saul Alvarez vs Avni Yildirim was a fantastic achievement for Davis, and he had no trouble continuing that form on the big shows. He has since recorded impressive wins in Dubai, the AT&T Stadium, Madison Square Garden, MGM Grand, Prudential Center, and other major venues.
Members of Team Davis have high hopes for the young fighter, and he’s expected to score another showreel win this weekend. As he edges closer to the title picture, Keyshawn’s opponents get better and more accomplished in the division. But he has passed every test put to him with flying colors, and fans expect more of the same in Norfolk. It will be the final fight of the year for Davis and an excellent opportunity to secure another important win and end 2024 on a high.

All the talk in the lead-up to this weekend’s fight has focused on Keyshawn Davis and how another win would move him into position for a shot at one of the division’s main names. That has allowed opponent Gustavo Daniel Lemos to prepare free from the spotlight, and the underdog will be determined to grab this opportunity with both hands. Lemos is the away fighter and will have the crowd against him, but he’s experienced enough to know the audience can’t help his opponent when the bell sounds to start the fight.
The fighter known as El Electrico travels from Buenos Aires, Argentina, with a professional boxing record detailing 29 wins against one defeat and 19 stoppage victories. The 28-year-old is ranked number one in his country and 18th in the world but knows an upset win in America would send him speeding toward the top 10. Victory could change Gustavo’s career overnight, setting up an exciting start to 2025. But will he take his opportunity to impress on the big stage before a huge audience?
The one defeat on Lemos’ record came on points over 12 rounds against Richardson Hitchins last time out. Lemos pushed his opponent all the way to a decision in an eliminator for the IBF super lightweight title in Las Vegas, and the scorecards reflected what was a close contest. Hitchins got the win on all three cards with the scores reading 117-111, 115-113, 115-113.

I expect Davis to use the home advantage and score another important victory, but it won’t be easy against a dogged and determined opponent who also knows what victory would do for his career. It’ll be a competitive contest from the first bell, but I don’t expect either man to risk it by going on the attack and looking for an early stoppage. Davis vs Lemos will be a more tactical affair.
I’m backing Keyshawn’s quality to shine through, but there’s no value in backing him in the fight-winner market. Instead, we play the method of victory option, where we pick Davis to win on points at odds of -175, which is currently available on the bet365 website and app. You can make that bet now using your laptop or smartphone.
