Munguia is back in the ring on Saturday evening when taking on Gabrial Rosado at the Honda Center in Anaheim. This bout is scheduled for the 12 rounds championship distance with the WBO Inter-Continental middleweight title on the line. Munguia is the hot favorite with all respected online bookmakers, and that comes as no surprise. He is also the pundit’s pick to add another win to his already impressive record. American Rosado has been written off by most and understands he enters this contest as an underdog, but he’ll believe he has the skills, power, and boxing IQ to pull off an upset.
Championship boxing is nothing if not unpredictable, and that’s one of the main reasons why bettors love it. In addition to the excitement of fights and the frequent upsets, there are some huge odds to be found when making your predictions. Boxing, unlike most other professional sports, can change in the blink of an eye. A fighter who is behind on the scorecards always has the opportunity to score a knockout, from the first second of the opening round to the last seconds of the final round. That’s why we love it.
No fighter has a guaranteed win and, contrary to popular belief, there is no such thing as an easy fight, just a mismatch. Munguia enters the ring with the backing of the betting traders, and that’s understandable as he comes with a professional record of 37-0-0 with no less than 30 knockouts already on his card. He is currently ranked as the number one fighter in his weight division in Mexico and number five in the world, but a win here would help him improve on the latter. Of the current crop of middleweights, Gennady Golovkin is the number one, ahead of Jermall Chalo, Erislandy Lara and Chris Eubank Jr of the United Kingdom. If Billy Joe Saunders returns from that crushing loss to Canelo and aims to move back down to middleweight, he will force a re-shuffle of that pack in the new year.
As a boxing fan wishing to bet on this bout, you can follow the money and have your stake on the favorite, agreeing with traders that Munguia will do the job and move on to 31 career wins. If you are after a bigger price, you can take a chance on Rosado pulling off an upset win and beating the Mexican in front of a capacity crowd at the Honda Center and millions more watching around the world. There’s also the draw to factor in if you are feeling particularly lucky and rate your chances of landing a winner at great odds, with both men canceling each other out and finishing level on the scorecards.
When gambling with one of the top sportsbooks featured on this page or the site, you will enjoy a long list of markets. Have your say on anything from the winning round to the method of victory. An example of a bet on the latter would be Munguia to win by knockout.

Fight fans have a real treat in store this weekend as one of the top names in boxing returns to the ring. Yes, he’s the fighting pride of Mexico, and yes, he’s an all-conquering champion, but it’s not Saul Alvarez. Canelo did as we predicted he would last week by stopping Caleb Plant late in the fight, and that bout went exactly to plan. We’re not sure what’s next for the hard-hitting Canelo, but we are certain his team will already be working away behind the scenes to set up another big title fight, possibly at yet another weight.
With Saul cementing his fighting legacy as one of the best Mexican boxers ever – no mean feat, as any fight fan will appreciate – the focus now switches to another of the nation’s top talents. Over the years, Mexico has become famous for being a conveyor belt of exciting boxing champions, and Jaime Munguia ranks alongside them. He may not enjoy the same global following as countryman Canelo, but he is every bit as exciting and ambitious. At just 25 years old, he is a current champion but is desperate for more belts and more glory nights. Those on the inside believe he’ll get his wish.
Munguia is another exciting fighter to drop off the champion’s conveyor belt in Mexico, and there’s no doubt he will go on to achieve bigger and better things in the sport. On paper, he looks a class above Rosado but winning this fight won’t be enough. Jaime will want to put on his usual show and prove just how devastating he is. The 6ft orthodox boxer is a rangy fighter with skills and speed, but he also packs a punch and has an incredible 80% KO average. He is just as comfortable fighting on the outside, boxing and moving, as he is working on the inside, fighting and pushing opponents back. He can do it all, and that will prove to be the difference here.
Rosado is an experienced fighter, but he has already failed to win 14 of his previous bouts, with the Californian’s record standing at 26-13-1. The 35-year-old has already stopped 15 opponents but has been halted four times himself and arrives at the venue with just two wins from his last five outings. Both victories were by KO, and he stopped a 7-0-0 fighter in the first round last time out. He has power but can be caught and will be out-classed here.
Back Munguia to win by a late stoppage with 7-12 selected from the round group betting.
