A hastily arranged fight is never a good thing when making predictions and trying to beat the bookies.
In an ideal scenario, we need two fighters who have enjoyed the perfect preparation and are in the right frame of mind.
Then we can study the form, the strengths, and weaknesses of each and make our call on how the fight will go. We don’t have that luxury here as Eubank has had a longer training camp than expected, and we don’t know how fit and sharp his opponent will be for this one.
Why would an extended camp be a bad thing for Eubank?
Indeed the more training and longer camp, the better? Well, not exactly. A good professional training camp is timed to perfection.
It builds the fighter’s fitness gradually, adds in the right types of sparring, working on hitting their peak at the right time.
Eubank would have been expecting to fight a few weeks ago and would have been at his peak due to the late notice cancellation. Now he has had a few weeks off where he hasn’t known exactly what’s happening or who he’s fighting. All the time, he’s had to keep his weight in check and his sharpness.
Far from ideal, but those problems haven’t been factored into the betting as traders can’t afford to give leeway for interrupted training camps, or they could be punished if Eubank wins as comfortably as he’s capable of doing.
Below are the current fight winner odds available for Saturday’s contest.

Chris Eubank Jr suffered the hurt of missing out on a fight just a fortnight ago when two opponents pulled out.
After the original dropped out of the planned contest at the Wembley Arena due to COVID, a replacement was hastily arranged, but the stand-in also failed to make it to the ring.
It seemed like Junior’s career would be set back at least by a few months with the danger of him missing out on another fight in 2021, but that’s not the case.
Benjamin Shalom, for Ultimate Boxxer promotions, has put on another show in Newcastle this weekend and has found space for Eubank. The Englishman will now face Wanik Awdijan at the Newcastle Arena on Saturday with the action shown live on television to a global audience.
It has been an uncertain few weeks for Chris, filled with uncertainty, but he has a date in the diary again and will be desperate to take out his frustrations on the new opponent.
Junior will want to win, the victory is the most important thing as he aims to drive himself back into contention for world titles, but he must also impress.
He will enjoy the backing of a capacity crowd in Newcastle and will want to steal the show from headline act Hughie Fury v Christian Hammer.
Upstaging that intriguing heavyweight bout won’t be easy, of course, but Eubank certainly has the skills to make sure he is noticed and fight fans go home praising his performance. A convincing win would help achieve that.
The leading bookmakers expect a huge TV audience for this fight and have posted their pre-fight betting odds.
They have marked up the fight winner odds and added a few specials, including method of victory, winning round, and round group betting. That allows armchair fans to spice up the action by making their predictions and having a bet.
Will you play it safe and take the favorite, or will Eubank’s frustrations get the better of him after that failed fight and suffer a shock defeat? On Saturday, we’ll find out when Eubank Jr and Germany’s Awdijan go toe to toe in the ring.
Eubank Jr has a professional record of 30 wins against two defeats and no draws. Of those victories, he has scored 22 by knockout and went ten rounds with Marcus Morrison in Manchester earlier this year.
He has also been training for around three months for this fight due to the extended camp and the fighters pulling out, changing, then pulling out.
He’ll be fit and desperate to get out and do the damage. His opponent could be made to pay a hefty price for something that isn’t his fault.
Wanik Awdijan is a German fighter with a 28-1-0 record with 11 wins by knockout, so he’s no slouch in the power department either.
The only defeat on his card came very early in his career when stopped in round five of six in what was a shock result. That defeat was in 2014, and he has been unbeaten since, an impressive winning run that spans 21 contests.
Eubank will be too good for his opponent, even if the German is on top of his game.
Wanik has a decent record on paper but steps up in class here and will find out quite early that there’s levels between the two men.
It will be a painful lesson, too, as Eubank establishes his distance and jab early before going through the gears. A stoppage win in the middle rounds is expected, with Eubank taking his time.
He will be desperate to get off the leash in Newcastle and get about his opponent but he’ll also want to get a few rounds under his belt and ensure he doesn’t look sloppy or make any stupid mistakes. The performance on the global stage is important if he wants to get back to title level.
