The preamble to March Madness is here with conference tournaments getting underway throughout the college basketball world this week. This includes Thursday’s semifinals in the Atlantic Sun between the Jacksonville Dolphins and the Stetson Hatters.

Another thing that’s on the way is legal sports betting in North Carolina, which arrives on March 11. In anticipation of North Carolina betting mobile sports betting, DraftKings Sportsbook is offering a signup bonus for new users in North Carolina.

If you take advantage of this promotion during the pre-registration period, you’ll get $100 in bonus bets in your account just for signing up. Those bonus bets will be available for use starting on March 11. But that’s not all for new DraftKings customers in North Carolina. Once March 11 arrives, if you deposit at least $5 into your account and make an initial wager of at least $5, you’ll receive another $200 in bonus bets.

Meanwhile, if you’re not in North Carolina, you don’t have to miss the fun. DraftKings is giving new customers everywhere else a $1,000 no-sweat bet when they sign up. That means if your first bet after creating a new account loses, you’ll receive bonus bets equal to your wager up to $1,000.

Atlantic Sun Semifinals: Jacksonville vs. Stetson Prediction and Bet

The Dolphins are halfway to clinching a Cinderella birth in the NCAA Tournament. Jacksonville finished just 5-11 in conference play this season and barely qualified for the Atlantic Sun Tournament as the no. 10 seed. After losing four of their last five regular-season games, the Dolphins upset Kennesaw State on Monday and then took down top-seeded Eastern Kentucky on Tuesday night, both on the road.

Jacksonville’s reward for beating the No. 1 seed in the A-Sun is a road game against No. 2 Stetson. The Hatters won eight of their last 11 games to close out the regular season and then took care of Queens University in the A-Sun quarterfinals on Tuesday. They’ve been led all season by Jalen Blackmon, who is one of the best players in the Atlantic Sun, averaging over 21 points per game this season. Blackmon was a First-Team All-ASUN selection while Stephan Swenson made the second team.

The Hatters won both previous matchups against Jacksonville, including a 16-point home win in January and a 13-point road win last week. The Dolphins had no answer for Blackmon, who scored 36 points in last week’s game. This is why a six-point spread in Stetson’s favor makes sense but could also be a little low.

As hard as it is to beat a team three times in one season, Stetson’s dominance over Jacksonville in the two earlier meetings suggests a clear mismatch. That makes it hard to believe the Dolphins can continue the momentum that they’ve built with back-to-back wins. Keep in mind, the Hatters are also 12-2 at home this season. That’s enough to back Stetson to win and cover on Thursday, securing a spot in the Atlantic Sun Championship Game this weekend.
