fuboTV announced a partnership with online betting powerhouse, FanDuel, to create a one-of-a-kind experience that will allow bettors to place wagers live on fuboTV through FanDuel’s mobile app.
The partnership is currently only for the New Jersey market and will extend to channels found exclusively on fuboTV.
Although more channels will be announced in the coming weeks, the partnership will first focus on TVG and TVG2, two horse racing channels owned by FanDuel.
“We’re partnering with fuboTV to demonstrate how FanDuel can enhance the live viewing experience,” said Adam Kaplan, FanDuel VP of Content Business & Operations.
“(This partnership will allow) cord-cutting sports fans to view the content that matters to them the most from their TV, phone, tablet or computer.”
The agreement calls for FanDuel to be the exclusive sportsbook, online casino, horse racing and daily fantasy provider for the television provider.
With the exclusivity, fuboTV cannot do similar arrangements with other sportsbook competitors.
For FanDuel, they will control the rights to be the lone gaming company to advertise across all channels offered on fuboTV.
“FuboTV is a sports-centric company, focused on live sports and entertainment content, making (FanDuel) a natural partner,” Kaplan continued.
“By integrating our odds and data on fuboTV’s platform, we are truly changing the way people watch live sports.”
The arrangement is the first of its kind for a streaming network to join forces with a sports betting service.
The first thing that fuboTV will do is add the two FanDuel channels, TVG, to their base package and then include TVG2 to their Sports Plus add-on package.
The two channels will mix horse racing coverage, sports betting, and additional fantasy news for bettors and fantasy players.
In the coming weeks, FanDuel’s betting information will begin to show up on fuboTV’s programming.
The expectation is that fuboTV branded offerings will feature FanDuel’s information and content with a featured place in the programming guide.
Although New Jersey is the first and only market that can view the programming, both companies hope to expand to additional states as those territories legalize online wagering.
But for now, only two fuboTV channels, Fubo Network and Fubo Cycling, along with the horse racing channels, will present the betting information.
This arrangement means that the partnership can only offer betting info on cycling, soccer and horse racing at inception.
At launch, viewers will not be able to place bets directly through the FanDuel or fuboTV branded channels that offer sports betting data.
This partnership, as it stands, is only about providing betting information but the FanDuel technology could allow for bets to be made directly in the future.
“We are always looking for ways to add value for consumers and enhance their premium experience with fuboTV,” said Min Kim, fuboTV VP of Business Development.
“Gaming and sports are natural complements, and fuboTV’s industry-leading product offerings will be further enriched with FanDuel’s innovative entertainment solutions.”
The partnership should begin to show on fuboTV programming within the next couple of weeks.
