Fanatics Sportsbook launches in Washington D.C

The Washington, D.C., sports betting market grew slightly bigger last week.

Fanatics Sportsbook was approved for a license and launched its platform in the nation’s capital. The brand gained access to the growing market thanks to a partnership with the Washington Spirit of the NWSL. The deal also made Fanatics the club’s official sports betting partner, the first time the operator had done so with a women’s team.

The District will be the twenty-second market that Fanatics will be live in.

“As we continue to build out our sports betting business, we are excited to partner with the Washington Spirit,” said Fanatics CBO Ari Borod. “We will look to grow the Fanatics Sportsbook alongside the growing popularity of women’s soccer and women’s sports generally across the country.”

The launch gives the District five online sportsbooks just three months after the 2025 budget was approved, allowing for the industry’s expansion. After years of using only one operator, the new budget allowed for the creation of more licenses, which have been going fast.

Bettors in the District can now access the Fanatics Sportsbook from anywhere within its borders.

Caesars to Launch Betting Kiosks in October

In addition to Fanatics joining the District’s online sports betting market, there will also be a new operator for its retail betting kiosks.

The Office of Lottery and Gaming (OLG) has announced a new partnership with Caesars Sportsbooks to launch over 50 betting kiosks across the district. The operator will replace GameBetDC, which was previously the sole operator in the district but is now defunct.

The news marks a massive win for Caesars, which has had a small footprint in the District thanks to its retail sportsbook. That helped make it one of the first online operators to launch its online platform after the District expanded its market.

While no date has been set for when all kiosks will be available, the OLG stated that Caesars must launch by October 1.
