BetMGM Named Sports Betting Operator and Employer of the Year

MGM took home some impressive hardware from the 2024 EGR North America Awards.

BetMGM won two awards at this year’s ceremony. The first was for the Sports Betting Operator of the Year. While their revenue pales compared to DraftKings and FanDuel, their innovation and world-class platform earned them the prestigious award.

In addition to being named Operator of the Year, BetMGM also received an award for being the Sports Betting Employer of the Year. The combination of those two awards signals just how impressive the Vegas-based sportsbook has been, especially considering they are a second-tier operator.

"Winning two EGR North America Awards is a tremendous honor," said BETM CEO Adam Greenblatt. "We have a passionate team at BetMGM dedicated to delivering best-in-class betting experiences, which saw exponential leaps in capability this year with unparalleled omnichannel opportunities, enhanced user interface, and increased brand visibility. These awards are a tribute to all the hard work and the strong culture that we are building at BetMGM."

This was the first time BetMGM had won either of the awards since entering the market in August 2018. MGM has also won Casino Operator of the Year in 2022 and 2024.

Between its online and retail presence, BetMGM is present in 29 different markets, making it one of the largest operators in the US.

BetMGM Finding Ways to Compete

The sports betting market has begun to cannibalize over the last few years. Once promising sportsbooks have struggled, leading to them selling off their US assets. A big reason for that is the dominance of DraftKings and FanDuel, which combine to control over 80% of the market share in the US.

While BetMGM cannot match the revenue numbers produced by two industry leaders, they have cleared out a large chunk for themselves. Their consistent success has made it hard for rivals such as Caeasrs, ESPN Bet, and Fanatics to gain stronger footholds in the US.
