Riding the wave of so many recent NFL headlines, the Chicago Bears officially announced PointsBet as the team’s first official sports betting sponsor. Under the terms of their partnership, PointsBet will gain full usage of Chicago Bears’ IP trademarks and logos, along with all sponsorship opportunities and brand visibility across various digital assets.
The Australian based company has been on a roll lately, also linking a partnership with nearby NFL team the Indianapolis Colts. This news followed collaborations alongside the PGA Tour, NBA’s Denver Nuggets, NHL’s Colorado Avalanche, plus National Lacrosse League’s Colorado Mammoth, as well as the Pepsi Center home of these three CO franchises.
Also, like other sportsbook popular promotions tying in with NFL teams, PointsBet said it will offer the best price in-market for pre-game spreads covering both the spread and money line on Bears games for all customers. By signing up, fans will also receive a unique sign-up code for PointsBet’s mobile app, allowing them access to special promotions.
As has been customary in many of these seemingly weekly announcements, both sides were extremely pleased about their arrangement along with the win-win possibilities for their loyal supporters and fans. Here is what they said:
“As we break into the sports betting category for the first time, we couldn’t be more excited to welcome PointsBet to the Bears family as a proud partner,” proclaimed club President and CEO Ted Phillips. “This deal will bring fans a new way to interact with and cheer on the club.”
For PointsBet, US CEO Johnny Aitken said:
The PointsBet team is incredibly excited to become the first legal sportsbook partner in Chicago Bears history. We are teaming up with a first-class organization, supported by extremely passionate fans. Since launching our fast and differentiated mobile sports betting app in Illinois, we’ve been thrilled by the reception from Chicago sports bettors. We’ve always viewed Illinois to be a supreme market opportunity for the PointsBet brand, and we look forward to increasing our presence alongside famed partners in the Chicago Bears.
In addition to recently launching the PointsBet mobile app and digital product for Illinois sports bettors, PointsBet offers a convenient retail presence throughout Chicago and will soon debut at four sites that cover virtually every corner of the Chicagoland area. Hawthorne Race Course in Stickney, IL represents their flagship retail location, plus additional off-track betting (OTB) premium sportsbooks will soon arrive in Prospect Heights, Oakbrook Terrace, and Crestwood.
PointsBet is also following another growing trend among burgeoning sportsbooks building in the US. Partnering with sports stars and entertainers to promote their brand.
Likely eyeing this latest Illinois move, the company signed probably future Chicago Bears Hall of Famer and legend Devin Hester to a business contract, helping to promote the brand. In conjunction with these new launches in the area, PointsBet plans to leverage Hester’s knowledge of football and specifically of Chicago sports to align insider knowledge with the premier digital and retail offerings the company will bring.
Hester was quoted as saying:
Chicago is the best sports city in the world. I am incredibly excited to join the PointsBet team to bring the most premium sports betting experience to the best fans in the world. PointsBet gives Chicagoans the most convenient options with a new Hawthorne location and the three other retail spots in every corner of the city. Fans anywhere can bet on the PointsBet app which is incredibly fast and very easy to use. Are you ready Chicago? Let’s go!
With the Bears joining the growing list following the recent announcements for the Eagles, Giants, and Raiders, it is likely we will hear from another NFL team or two making their partnership arrangement with their sportsbook choice during the next week or two.
